I want to take a moment to tell you about a very special San Francisco 49ers fan. He was born in 1943, grew up about an hour north of Bakersfield, California, and went to college at Fresno State. As a teenager, the first 49ers game he attended was a preseason game played at Bakersfield Junior College. Even after moving to Los Angeles, he still followed the...

There seems to be some confusion regarding the reason for newly drafted San Francisco 49ers safety Taylor Mays' anger toward his former USC head coach, Pete Carroll. Some seem to think that Mays is angry because Carroll did not draft him, opting to go with safety Earl Thomas of Texas with the #11 selection in the first round, rather than take his...

After being quiet for the first 12 hours of free agency and silently watching as their own free agents, wide receiver Arnaz Battle and right tackle Tony Pashos schedule their own visits to other teams, a rumor of a potential visit appeared. It was not some big name free agent or a potential starter. Various sources are stating that the 49ers have scheduled...

While the rest of the league spent their first three hours in this uncapped offseason scrambling to schedule visits for top free agents, not even a whisper came out of San Francisco's offices.
General manager Scot McCloughan continued to stress that the 49ers would focus on the draft and not free agency stating that the 2010 market is not...

Joe Montana fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Like a few other quarterbacks before him, the "Greatest quarterback of all-time" debate is officially over for Peyton Manning. Although, I must admit that he briefly made the debate interesting.
Even I was starting to wonder if Manning was not human at all, but some sort of invincible machine....

On a chilly San Francisco evening, my eyes caught a glimpse of one of the 49ers' stadium souvenir cups sitting on a seat once occupied by another hopeful San Francisco 49ers fan. The cup had a picture of Frank Gore on it with the slogan "Talk Doesn't Win Games" written above his photo. Apparently, neither do the 49ers.
Minutes earlier,...

After a big win against the St. Louis Rams last week, the San Francisco 49ers were probably busting at the seams with confidence. The team fell back to Earth on Sunday afternoon with an embarrassing 45-10 defeat at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. The team played uncharacteristically bad in all aspects of the game. The mental mistakes were abundant and...

On one play Sunday, the hearts of San Francisco 49ers fans everywhere were broken. The cause of the demoralizing defeat was a familiar foe and a man that always seems to come through with big plays when facing the 49ers. On the Minnesota Vikings' final play of the game, Brett Favre beat the 49ers' defense with a 32-yard pass to Greg Lewis leaving 2...

The team conducted the afternoon practice in pads.
Parys Haralson and Marvel Smith took the practice off. Haralson was injured during the AM practice. Haralson was replaced in the...

According to Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat, the 49ers opened up training camp with linebacker Patrick Willis leading the team through stretches.
Wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan is working with 10 guys on the field. None of them are rookie Michael Crabtree, who is still a hold out while trying to negotiate a contract with the...

For the past 15 years, the NFL's annual extravaganza, the NFL Draft, has taken place on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday, the NFL announced that in 2010, the draft will move from a two day weekend event and now span three days beginning on a Thursday. Matt Maiocco of the Press Democrat...

The Oakland Raiders fumbled the ball and the San Francisco 49ers picked it right up and ran in for a touchdown. I doubt there were many that believed Michael Crabtree, the highly acclaimed wide receiver out of Texas Tech, would still be around by the time the 49ers made their selection. A miracle would have to happen for that to be the scenario, correct? I...

San Francisco 49ers fans were dealt a devastating blow on Sunday as the Pittsburgh Steelers won their record sixth championship with their dramatic 27-23 defeat of the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. "First to six." Say it. It is no longer a term that represents hope for the future, but a term that mocks the current state of our beloved franchise....

The 49ers finished the season by winning five of their last seven games. Mike Singletary, who just became the permanent coach following the team's win against the Redskins, finished with a record of 5-4. While the team was out of the playoffs early, it was a finish to be proud of.
It is very safe to say that the team can win with the level of...

He does not have a big arm and his passes may not be as pretty as other quarterbacks, but Shaun Hill gives the San Francisco 49ers their best chance to win right now. He was not perfect on Monday night, tossing two passes into the opposition's waiting hands, but he also made the offense look better than it has all season. Hill's mobility and quick...

The 49ers tried to end a two-game losing streak with the limping Philadelphia Eagles visiting on Sunday. Instead, they mismanaged themselves to another loss in yet another winnable game. The 40-26 loss drops the team to a 2-4 record as they fall further behind the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West. With rumors originating from Yahoo! Sports that Mike...

We recently put a poll on this site asking fans whether or not they felt San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan should be with the team next season. At the time of this writing, almost 92% of the fans feel that he should not be here anymore. After a 2-1 start, the 49ers entered the meat of their early schedule and have now dropped their last two games...

As I search for a new career that will hopefully be more fulfilling and challenging than my last, my mind wondered and began to compare failing corporations to the current state of the 49ers. As my mind wondered, I began to think about customer base versus fan base, and management in the corporate world versus bad team management. Some companies are too...

It was a classic David versus Goliath story line. It was an upset for the ages. During introductions, the heavily favored New England Patriots marched onto the field with a calm "been there and done that" look on their faces. Earlier that week, quarterback Tom Brady laughed at a prediction by one of the New York Giants that the Patriots would only score 17...
