According to the New York Post's Edward Lewis, an arrest warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is wanted on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speed.
Aiyuk made headlines in December 2025 after posting a widely criticized video that appeared to show him speeding past Levi's Stadium, the 49ers' home venue, in what was reportedly a newly purchased Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.
The video appeared to show Aiyuk driving at unsafe speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Following the backlash, Aiyuk apologized on social media, acknowledging his mistake and pledging to change his behavior.
"Sorry yall, my car content won't come with speeding anymore!" Aiyuk wrote. "Was praying with my son tonight and wouldn't want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies."

At the time, a spokesperson for the Santa Clara Police Department said, "At this point, the video is being reviewed, and further details can be provided when available."
The investigation was later forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office on January 15.
The 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract extension before the 2024 NFL season. However, his tenure in San Francisco has since become increasingly complicated.
Aiyuk appeared in only seven games before suffering season-ending ACL and MCL injuries. During his recovery, communication between the receiver and the organization deteriorated. The 49ers continued to hope Aiyuk could return and contribute during the 2025 season, but that never materialized.
The team ultimately placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list, officially ending any possibility of a return last season.
While the 49ers would prefer to trade Aiyuk, a release before September 1—when an option bonus becomes due—appears to be the more likely outcome. Because other teams know this, San Francisco is struggling to find a trade partner.
