What about a cornerback, free safety, linebacker, nickelback, running back and wide receiver? Because he has played all those this season.

Don't see this pick happening for the following reasons:
1. Too many glaring needs at other positions (QB, OLB, NT, MLB)
2. Our DB's are young and have a lot of potential. Hopefully Redmond gets some playing time and looks solid near the end of the season... If not then that's like the third or fourth 3rd round bust by Baalke in a row.
3. No way in hell does our weak, grudge holding, high school girl like drama of a front office draft a player from Harbaugh's team.

Other than that, yes he's a very talented and intriguing prospect. Won't see him in niner red and gold

So you think he's the top WR in the draft? Top Ilb? Top Running back? IMO he's a DB most likely a safety. He's a great athlete and a good football player but he's not gonna be a game changing player for a team that's starting to rebuild. Qb/passrusher > whatever position you play peppers at.

There's guys smaller than him starting at ILB in the NFL right now. Two of them play on one team, the Chargers Perryman and Brown

lol no. Perryman is 240 lbs. he has 40 lbs on peppers. And. Brown is 20 lbs heavier.

Peppers would get mauled in the NFL at ILB.

Worked out well when Oakland took a WR/CB/KR from Michigan.

Oakland had a need at Corner when they drafted Woodson. And Peppers is not a Corner at the next level he's a Deone Buchanan but much better.
Good player...for someone else.

We don't have a screaming need at secondary...I'm not saying he's a bad football player at all...but we have a ton of youth in secondary (which is where he would play) we have bigger issues at more important spots...Woodson had 17 ints in college what's peepers have? Zero

How many draft picks have we spent on secondary the past couple years ( and high ones)? And you want to spend a top 3 pick on yet another one...hell no.

Top 5 defensive player? How many turnovers does he have?

Sources say they see Peppers as a hybrid safety/linebacker in the NFL. He has the athletic skill set to play pass coverage, but often can be caught flat-footed. His ball skills aren't special either, as he has zero interceptions in his collegiate career. Thus, some sources think Peppers would fit best as a safety in the middle of the field. That would allow him to make plays off his instincts, and he could be a weapon in pass coverage on tight ends, blitzing quarterbacks, playing zone, and defending the run. There is no doubt that Peppers has a ton of athletic upside. He could play safety and dime linebacker, similar to Deone Bucannon. Peppers should also be used on special teams as he is a dangerous weapon there.

and

Sources with some NFL teams think that Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers has been overhyped. Here is how one NFC scouting director broke down Peppers, "First of all, he has zero interceptions in his collegiate career, and that is a red flag to me. Peppers is a great athlete, an explosive athlete, but he's not instinctive like a Tyrann Mathieu, and he's not a natural cover guy like Patrick Peterson. In the NFL, he's a starting strong safety that can walk down to cover the slot, kind of like how the Saints use Kenny Vaccaro. Jabrill is not a true free safety."

All this hype and he has no interceptions in college? That really worries me.

I am not advocating 49ers draft him (we really really really need a QB), just that it would not be a horrible pick if we did end up taking him. Its not as if he is a borderline first round pick. Most people see him as a top 5 player. Oh and we do have some issues at safety he could help with.

Agree

But our team has sooooo many holes; I think we'd be much better off w/a Garrett
