Is it safe to call Reggie Bush a bust?

Bush makes an impact for the Saints, but he's a borderline bust. I'm sure they expected him to better than a career 3.7 yards per carry.
I wouldn't. The guy is still well on the verge of breaking out.
He's not a bust....he just doesn't have the OL that he had in college.

Put him in open space (something the NO offense doesn't do enough of) and he's tearing up the D.

6. Reggie Bush: While Bush was able to cover up his mistakes in identifying holes and lanes in college, the superior athleticism of NFL defenders often leads to plays of minimal gain. The former USC star has made little progress as a runner since entering the league -- he has averaged less than four yards per carry for three straight seasons -- and while he's an effective return man and receiver out of the backfield, the Saints didn't make him the second overall pick so he could become Dave Meggett.

Well, apparently, if that statement doesn't apply to Alex Smith, then surely it can't apply to Reggie Bush...

Oh no don't get me wrong, I agree with krizay's first reply, but I'm just throwing this saying out there.

I dont know, but I think it may have to do with the team itself.

You dont want to give up on a player you committed to financially and otherwise (team leader, face of the franchise).

Teams try to hold out hope, but if the player isnt good, doesnt matter if he is on the team or not, he is a bust

Food for thought.

The Frank Gore poll shows 90% of this board having Frank Gore atleast in the top 10.

Frank Gore averages 99 yards from scrimmage a game since joining the NFL with 26 total TD's in 59 games.

Reggie Bush averages 83 yards from scrimmage a game. with 24 td's in only 38 games.

Gore 99 yards pg, 26 td's in 59 games
Bush 83 yards pg, 24 td's in 38 games

So one is top 10 RB and the other is a bust?

yeah, and Bush has Bress at QB and Gore has had Dilfer, Smith, Hill, Dorsey, etc... at QB.

And a good amount of bush's td's are from returns.

But for the question, yes at this point he hasnt lived up to huis expectations.

While Gore has proven he wasnt a reach or a bust in the 3rd round.
Bust... NO!!!
Hasn't lived up to expectations... YES!!!

To me a bust is someone drafted real high and is out of the league in a few years bc they sucked. Reggie is the starting RB for the Saints this year and he's been in the league for a few years.

According ot the OP criteria of a bust, half the players drafted in the first round are busts.
