Purdy completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for 297 yards and four touchdowns, finishing with a 133.8 passer rating in a thrilling 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The victory improved the 49ers to 3-0 and gave them sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
Through three games this season, Purdy has completed 72.3% of his passes for 789 yards, nine touchdowns, and one interception. His 133.1 passer rating leads the NFL.
The other nominees for the awards were Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.
The FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week awards no longer have positional restrictions. Instead, regardless of position, the two players with the most fan votes are named the winners when voting closes at noon PT on Wednesday.
As part of the initiative, FedEx will donate $2,000 in the name of each week's two winners, or $4,000 total, to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The donations will fund need-based scholarships for HBCU students throughout the season.
