Upon Further Review: You get to choose what 49ers-related topics we discuss this week

Welcome to pre-game part of this week's Upon Further Review…and the UFR crew wants to know: what do you want to talk about? This week AJ and Diego are turning this space over to you, the readers, to decide what we'll be discussing.

Both writers will take turns to reply to any of your questions regarding the San Francisco 49ers, from your immediate reaction to today's game against the Miami Dolphins, to next week's primetime game against the Patriots, and anything else related to the 49ers. Leave your questions in the comments section at the bottom and we will select several of them to reply to by midweek.

We are looking forward to your questions!
The opinions within this article are those of the writer and, while just as important, are not necessarily those of the site as a whole.

As much as Kap wants to get it downfield & go for the homeruns what I think he needs to learn is read the Defenses & TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES HIM. I'm anxiously waiting to see how he does getting the coaching & working to read/understand the various zone blitzes, if he can eventually master it, & get to the level of Smith who excels in combating the blitzes. Bottom line, he needs more experience & we'll see how he grows & takes on more of the playbook & coaching. Harbaugh is the Man & he's taking a calculated risk. I 1000% support JH. Without him & his Staff we were a LAUGHING STOCK & A JOKE seemingly like forever. It's great to see so far that Kap looks like he has the potential to be the game manager that Smith is, possibly run the Offense as smooth & effectively, & if he reaches that THEN his added 2 talents of his arm/deep ball/explosiveness running ability can succeed in making us a REAL efficient & explosive Offense. I like our chances of Kap & our team becoming what it could be. Can you both comment on if/how he's progressing reading the blitzes? I do see growth in Kap in every new game he's played so far. Way to work..keep it up!

Just watched most of the game again. A few things... 1) The pass to VD was a short one & Kap as he often does threw a heater. 9/10 that ball is thrown way too hard. There were defenders all around him & velocity was needed but his short ball needs more touch. Everyone knows this 2) For those who can't see explosive plays the ones he's missed either weren't by much at all or the guys flat out dropped the ones that were right there. And Kap looks to get it down the field. There's more excitement, aggressiveness, & fearlessness with Kapernick. Smith is more careful & methodical dink & dunk. I see Kap as willing & able to learn to be careful & manage the game like Smith but he's also aggressive & is a GAMER looking for the down the field strike. I'm still in disbelief Moss didn't get the PI..dude looked like he wanted to arm wrestle Moss. (Bad ref angle maybe? Was it challengable? We would've won it EASILY IMO) 3) Give the guy TIME. If he can really learn the Pro game mental side (a la in the DIRECTION of the Brady's, Manning, Montana, & Young's) we could have something great or special.

I would like to see a discussion of the playoffs. What are the Niners chances of getting to the superbowl, who are going to be dangerous in the playoffs, what would be the best matchups for the Niners Ect.

When will the 49ers drop the stupid idiotic useless worthless "Jumbo Package"? I want to re-name it the Dumbo Package.

The Niners better go into NE ready to play. Brady carved the Texans up tonight. I don't think Kap and the Niners want to try and win a shootout against Brady. Hopefully, the ground game is clicking and we can keep the NE offense off the field,

Explain to all the importance of "The Plan". The Bill Walsh "Plan" is build from the bottom, pad your draft picks, and WIN football games. Harbaugh has done his homework. Kappy is 2-1 so far. He is not going to learn sitting on the bench. Smith was already gone before this season started (i.e. Peyton workout, wet dreams of Luck, and "delay" in signing Alex). Stick to the "Plan". --SPOILER ALERT-- The 49ers are likely not going to the Superbowl this season. If they do, then GREAT, but they remain the ONLY undefeated team in Superbowl history, 5-0. Most would like it to stay that way. We must be ready to win. We will be ready in 2013 and no question in 2014 and beyond. A first class team is not made overnight. Remember, when you play non-conf/div games why show your cards -- just win the game (i.e. Miami). Once the offense settles the deep ball, etc. will come out. Go NINERS. Go Kappy! What do you think Deigo and AJ? Are we destined for Superbowl greatness this season or next? Is Harbaugh embracing "The Plan"? Are the niners building the "Team of the 10's"?

what dictates that on a third down NFL offenses often desides it is wise to throw short of the first down maker is this done against to confuse the defense or the fans the defenses dont as a rule allow the first down why do offensive cordinators keep doing so. You would think with the amount of money thier paid they would be able to think of better ways to get first downs. Is there one team that does it more than others.

"When will Ceadderman stop limiting the word "explosive" to the passing game so that he doesn't have to deal with Kaepernick's explosive 50-yard TD run?".... Terry, please name another Mobile QB besides Doug Johnson who actually did ANYTHING in the NFL Post Season? 50 yard TDs are great an all but not even Steve Young got a ring by running the Ball all the time. If Kappys explosiveness is limited only to his Running game then make him a freaking Running Back and let's get past this ignorance. I like Kappy but c'mon dude it's not like Smith is a Statue in the pocket. Fans were dissin him for the happy feet. But Kappy gets a couple TDs with his feet and you consider that "explosive"? The QB's job is a lot more than taking off and running down field for a TD. Let's see Kappy try that garbage against the Steelers, Denver, Houston and the other strong Run Defenses in the league. Let's see him do that with Ray Lewis roaming the middle looking to tattoo #52 in the middle of 7's chest. Smith can run too. Only his runs extend drives taking time off the clock serving more than one purpose. Like I said, I just don't see the explosiveness that Kappy brings to the position.

I do not think that "tatooed wonder" can get us to the playoffs and beyond. Don't you think it was too late in the season to make such a dratic chage? Kap has not done anything to amaze me- he can run that's it. Where did the "hot hand " go ??

Ok listen, I like Kaep and all. But can you please talk about how the offense has actually regressed with Kaep in at center. Just like with a Troy Smith, some want to hold onto the fact that he can run. But last week a run, and this week a run for TD in the 4th quarter, was good too. But he is not producing Td's like Smith did. Kaep has not thrown a consistent deep ball, or a TD to a WR or TE in about 2 straight games now. And he's playing lights out. More penalties over the past few weeks, cant get the right playcall in, is now taking more sacks, and still making bonehead turnovers. The kid definitely has talent, but it seems more like people wanna make him ready now, when he still has a little growing to do. That his "hot hand" is now cold, and besides a run here or there, no consistent Td's and like yesterday horrible 3rd down percentage. Thanks!

Should I be concerned with all the challenge flags Coach throws during a ball game and loses? Any day I expect to see Coach run out of challege flags and tear the boxer shorts off his ass and throw them on the field.

Please comment on strategy for NE and Seattle games. What do we need to do as a TEAM to beat these two teams? You can leave out the fact that we are THE NINERS and everything is always FIRST CLASS. My recommendation for 2 more wins... have each and every player and the entire coaching staff watch Eddie DeBartolo 'A Football Life' before every game like I do. This is the essence of football (and Jerry Rice is naked in at least two spots... haha). But really, NE - get rid of Jacobs already, pep talk to the offensive line, let AJ get some playing time, tell Davis to hush up about the quarterback and just catch the ball when it hits him in the hand, and sack Brady a few times from behind and game over Seattle - just show up What do you two think?

I hear you Gonzola but what's VD getting 1-3 pass attempts thrown to him per game? The guy is probably not in tune to the game being the forgotten man. EVERYONE has occasional drops from accurate well thrown balls (Crabtree, Gore, Walker, & Moss..all with a chance to be BIG gains) but when your getting only a seldom miniscule few passes thrown your way each game & your supposed to be one of the primary weapons not only are you not as focused/awake but if you drop that pass it stands out even more because of the few opportunities the guy is getting. 1-3 pass attempts to Davis esp when he was HOT from the playoffs, is now proven, has caught on to the Offense, practices hard & "was" (?) motivated, is inexcusable to me & Roman needs to correct this IMO bigtime. I love Roman but he needs to get VD IN THE GAME...AND HE CAN! 5 pass plays isn't much to ask at all. He ain't no Jerry Rice but even when he was doubled BW could still create a handful of attempts for him if he was being shut down. I repeat 1-3 pass attempts is ridiculous. It's been like this ALL YEAR & we're 75% done with the regular season. Unbelievable! (This is Mike Martz deja vu I tell you)

Explain how the Niners offense is more "explosive" with Kaepernick. Why does he get a pass after losing in New England and Seattle? Oh wait I'm a couple weeks ahead of myself.

Talk about how each of you in turn has blamed Kappy for losing the game against the Rams and for making MONDO mistakes... yet this game he was close to EXCELLENT. And problems from last couple of games persist -- play calling is horrible (not throwing on 1st downs, 3rd or 4th and 1 and not running the ball, etc.), Vernon Davis is still dropping passes, the defensive back field is great one instant and HORRIBLE the next, the offensive line just lets pass rushers straight on through on key plays. THIS team at times seems as though they do not want to win!? Please discuss this... and stop blaming Kappy. Not his fault Alex Smith is inconsistent, throws 4 interceptions in 1 game, can't run or scramble outside the pocket, is "slow" to find a receiver, and overall is skilled but not talented. GO KAPPY GO. Leave the kid alone and start harping on the veterans performance(s) -- ex. Vernon Davis repeatedly dropping passes (STL and MIA games).

Hello where is Vernon Davis?? Haven't looked up his stats but he's practically non-existent. I'm a big Roman fan but I believe he hasn't put enough plays in for him each game by a LONG shot. C'mon Greg..Crabtree is developing, Gore is Gore, really excited to see James out there who has big time potential to be a legit weapon, & Delanie looks like he's just starting to get a bit of consistency on catching (hopefully). If I were VD I'd be pissed. I thought he was just starting to get a good grasp of the Offense at the end of last season & thought he was going to explode this year. Has Roman lost confidence in the guy? Is there something we don't know about in practice like VD not getting his routes or assignments down? I think we need to get him at least say 5 plays per game & Roman hasn't come close to using him enough nor come up with more creative plays for him. With the other weapons we have (FB Miller too) & others developing they can't double team Davis every play. REALLY like Roman but c'mon man get more multi-dimensional & spread it out to everyone a la the great Bill Walsh. You've studied the tapes right? Please spread it around Greg!

Do you think our lack of 300 passing games is due to our quarterbacks, coaches, or offensive strategy? Or better yet, it shouldn't matter because a win is a win?

49ers' George Kittle, Charvarius Ward underwent surgeries; Dre Greenlaw aiming for Week 1 return

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

According to general manager John Lynch, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward wasn't the sole player to undergo core muscle surgery this offseason. Lynch disclosed to reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday that All-Pro tight end George Kittle also had the procedure. However, the silver lining is that both players are expected to be fully cleared for training camp, set to commence at the end of July. George Kittle and Charvarius Ward both had core muscle surgery this offseason and will be back, fully cleared, for

49ers reportedly sought No. 17 overall pick plus Jaguars player for Brandon Aiyuk

Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option. According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract
