I do like the power running feel of this draft. Surprised they didn't draft a WR, but maybe Hurd can be healthy.

It does feel like Kyles moving to power run game doesn't it? For me, this draft addresses the long term QB issue with Trey Lance. I'm pretty confident he'll be torching defenses in a year or two with Kyle coaching him up.

Finally Kyle's 4 minute offense has some teeth. In both super bowl losses, I think the power run 4 minute offense was Kyle's Achilles heel. He needed a run game that can put teams away in the 4th QTr. Those two OLinemen and those RBs look like tailor made for a 4 minute offense. (B+)

Isn't Wilson more of a bigger back? I'm wondering if at the cut down if Elijah Mitchell, Wayne Gallman Jr. both play great, do you deal Mostert? He's not gonna be back in 2022 IMO, after asking for more money/new deal, gonna be 30 or so, seems Sermon will replace him touch wise.

As for the draft, A+, I love Lance, glad we filled the IOL holes with Banks, who should start at RG week 1, Jaylon Moore likely is the backup T, then take over at LG or RG, with Banks at LG in 2022. I think Brunskill could be groomed to be a C, he should be the backup C IMO

I was surprised by the Sermon pick, but like I said, I see him taking Mostert's spot in 2022.

the 3 DBs are nice, I like Ambry Thomas, Dede Lenoir, & Talaona Hufgana.

The Mitchell pick was odd, but Kyle liked his speed, so, I wonder if maybe they keep 5 backs, 5 WRs, and use Mitchell like CAR used Curtis Samuel, as a RB/Slot WR.

I was very surprised they invested that much into the RB squad. Jeff Wilson has done a pretty good job when healthy, and I'm thinking they can stash him on the practice squad if Trey Sermon beats him out of a spot. Both Trey and Jeff are good sized backs that can break tackles for the 4 minute offense. I like the two OLine picks for the same reason, can they road grade the DLine on 3rd and 1 for the 4 minute offense? I think for certain Banks can.

I like Moors athleticim, and am wondering how he'd look playing center. Agree about Brunskill, he's a good developmental center behind Mack.

As for the 3 DBs, I hope one can excell and take over Sherman's role. 3rd and 15, if the defense holds, that's a 6th Lombard.

Mostert and Jeff, do you trade them? If they do well this year and the 49ers are in the super bowl (win or lose) i can see clueless bottom feeding teams giving ShanaLynch some draft capital for them or some of the other backup players. I agree on Mitchell, unless they think he's another Mostert, can play special teams and develop the way Mostert did? How many backs will they carry and is the covid practice squad rules still in place for 2021? I liked the way they addressed the OLine after picking up Trey. Trey is going to be special under Kyle, watch out NFL, Drew Breese that can run like Lamar Jackson is **In The House!**

I doubt Wilson gets traded, they gave him a $1.13M bonus, they'd only save $920K, I'd rather trade Mostert, save over $3M.

I thought the draft was very good A-/B+ range. But it'll depend on Lance. Could be A+++/F. But I thought they addressed key positions and got at least 2 or 3 day 1 starters.

It's Moon, he thinks he could draft better than Kyle & Lynch.

lmao AB don't even waste your valuable time and energy to answering this. Just laugh.

Yeah I know, but for some damn reason it annoys me because he does no research, like WFT can't fit JG on the roster, not enough cap room. Some teams will need to create cap room to just sign their picks, that's what Ian Rappoprt said about the Falcons, because their cap issues are a mess, that's why this whole Julio Jones talk has come up, but they can't trade him until June 2nd to save $15.3M, and we can't fit him under our cap, I did a projected 53 man, added in the practice squad and everything, almost $8M, before a Warner extension, so more likely $5M, unless they actually restructure someone's contract, only 4 players they could do that with are Jimmy, which makes no sense, if we did the max savings of $18.42M, the savings go from $25M to $8M.

Laken saves $2.808M, before the draft I thought maybe an extension since they redid him during the season and he has dead money($1,005,530) for 2022, but with the Banks & Moore picks I've changed my mind, what sucks is if he leaves we won't get a comp pick because he has multiple void yrs, and only players with actual expiring contracts count, guys with their option declined, like Von Miller, had they done that, they wouldn't get a comp pick cause that's also not part of the comp picks.

Armstead saves the team $4.528M if they redid his deal, also they'd add a void yr, which he already has in 2025, so same deal with him like Laken.

Ward, another guy with a void yr, I never understood why they signed him to a 3yr deal, that had 1 extra void yr for 2023, leaves $2M in dead money, he'd save $5.86M, but it would make it harder to get out of the deal after 2021, unless they Designated him a June 1 cut, but I'm certain he'll be around.

Another player who has a void yr is now Dee Ford, so after 2022 we won't be eligible for a 2023 comp pick.

I don't like drafting a RB in day 1 or 2 either. But this is the first RB they pick since Joe Williams and Sermon is way better as a prospect, he was carrying the OSU offense in games Justin Fields sucked. I guess they want to have a RB under control for 4 years instead of relying on 1 year rentals every year. Mostert was whinning for a trade a year ago, maybe his wish will be granted, or he'll go back to play gunner. Reality is Mostert has been as injury prone as Jimmy G.
Like the player, he could be an Alvin Kamara kind of talent, but the positional value is not there in round 3

They picked 2 OL who I feel will be really good in the NFL, durable, physical, big and nasty players.

Defense will have struggles, but not because of the talent. Robert Saleh is gone and Demeco is a rookie. It helped that Demeco learned from Saleh and got 2020 as an extra year (they were surprised Saleh wasn't hired that year so Demeco had that year to keep learning). There will be growing pains and a elarning curve, we saw that with Saleh as well. But it helps a lot the defensive starters came back and even Sherm could be back for a year. The DB they drafted are for depth and development, since some of those guys will look for the bag in 2022.

The 6th round RB will most likely be a PK/KR which this team desperately needs.

Finally, this was a draft like no other. First time they draft an IOL. First RB they draft since Joe Williams. First QB they draft since Beathard. First draft they don't pick DL or WR.

Overall, incredible draft. Don't listen to dumb people saying they "didn't draft starters". Ignore them, they have no clue how this works.

Agreed on everything. On Saleh it was a good thing he wasn't hired by Cleveland, or else we wouldn't have gotten those 2 3rd rd comp picks, the rule began with this offseason.

Banks should play RG the only position in offense that doesn't have a real starter, we all know Brunskill is a wildcard backup.
I'd expect the starting OL to be Trent-Laken-Mack-Banks-Mike. Banks should have no trouble beating Brunskill and Tom Compton for the starting job. If Mike spent time on the weight room, this could be a legit OL.
Moore is interesting; I believe he is here to provide depth and perhaps take Mike job at RT eventually, or compete for the RG job who knows.
Anyway, Banks is the first IOL they have drafted in 5 years and I'm excited to finally address a position of need. If the starting OL is as I expect they could be together for the next 2 years. Or maybe Mike is given the Trent Brown treatment and is traded?
Nobody knows, but it's exciting to have a deep OL for once
I went B+ and I feel like that's being charitable because I'm hyped on the possibilities. But I still think it's important to think critically about the choices made.

There are almost no unequivocally great picks from this draft.

I'm very excited about Lance and he may turn out to be the best guy in this class. But right now it looks like they massively overpaid to get him. And as it turned out, they could have gotten Fields with a minimal trade up and kept all their future first round picks. I know it's 20/20 hindsight... but reading these things is their job. To some extent they have to be judged based on how the board actually fell.

I like Sermon a lot for our scheme but that seems like both overpay and a luxury pick. Apparently their plan is to have 7 RBs and just 4 WRs on the roster, and run 90% of the time.

I think Hufanga was a good pick and was good value.

The rest I'm either not that into or think were the lesser option at that position when picked.

I don't understand how they could ignore WR when it's one of the thinnest positions on the team and was so loaded in the draft. And taking a second, and uninspiring RB when there were still good WRs left on the board just makes no sense to me.

I'm excited about the future of this team. But they had a chance to really vault themselves into a dynasty by nailing this draft, and I'm not sure they nailed it.

the guy was good, but he's a different type of back then Kamara.. Kamara is more all around and more natural...

While I see Kamara more of a slasher, I see Sermon as a pounder..

I would go into Kyle & John's draft history, but it'd be a waste of time, won't change anyone's mind(s), fact is they drafted a Pro Bowler in the first 3 drafts(Kittle, Warner, Bosa)

I personally think they've nailed on a lot of picks, I didn't like the Joe Williams pick, I understood the decision to walk away at Utah, losing my brother has taught me that you never get over that, he died in 2015, still not over it, same with my Dad's passing in 2019. Beathard was such an odd pick, I hated it. I liked the Taylor pick, but he never turned into that great slot WR. I loved DJ Reed, just wish they never cut him, same for Jullian Taylor, even though no one picked him up.

Honestly day 3 picks, 5th-7th rounders I don't really hold against them if they don't pan out, players are picked late for a reason, but you do find gems, Kittle, DJ Jones, hopefully our 3 5th rounders & Mitchell.

But we shall see what happens over the 3-4 yrs.

Yep, we traded the 2022 3rd rd comp as part of that deal, when you look at it, I'm kinda ok with the trade, especially now that we picked Lance, I mean we gave up 2 future 1s, but that comp 3rd is basically a early 4th rd pick when you think about it. I would have thought Miami would have wanted a 2nd rd pick instead of a 3rd, glad it didn't happen, we need our 2nd rd picks in 2022-2023, best case scenario, we get to the playoffs, and that 2022 1st rd pick is in the 19-32 range, worst case it's top 5-10, which would suck, but I love Trey Lance, and then we'd have an early 2nd, could trade into back end of round 1. So I'm no longer like WTF? I'm more like Ok, I like it now. I would have hated it if Mac Jones was the pick, thank god John & Kyle did an amazing job of trolling everyone, fans, media, etc..
Solid B just because we gave up a lot to get here. Huge risk.

Best case scenario Jimmy G plays out of his mind in a career year and somebody buys high on him in 2022 and the Lance era begins the same way Mahomes started his career. At the end of the day first round picks are a bit overrated, they are boom or bust as any other pick but more expensive in their rookie deals (how much money was wasted on Solly, lol). The 2022 draft class looks very underwhelming and teams rather sell their first round picks.
