I don't think it was a particularly good draft, but of course it's just a matter of whether the picks hit. Just not much bang for 2 entire drafts worth of capital.

Just because you've won 'Executive of The Year' a record three straight times playing Madden doesn't give you the right to criticize Kyle and John for thier decisions. Now go tell your mom you're out of "Hot Pockets" chop chop!

The expectation will be for the offense, in particular the running game, to be the main gear of this team. Trent Williams, Juice, Kittle and McGlinchey are all elite run blockers. Mac and Tomlinson are good too. They drafted 2 RBs because the entire backfield becomes FA in 2022, and neither of those guys have been durable enough. They picked 2 OL who I feel will be really good in the NFL, durable, physical, big and nasty players.

Defense will have struggles, but not because of the talent. Robert Saleh is gone and Demeco is a rookie. It helped that Demeco learned from Saleh and got 2020 as an extra year (they were surprised Saleh wasn't hired that year so Demeco had that year to keep learning). There will be growing pains and a elarning curve, we saw that with Saleh as well. But it helps a lot the defensive starters came back and even Sherm could be back for a year. The DB they drafted are for depth and development, since some of those guys will look for the bag in 2022.

The 6th round RB will most likely be a PK/KR which this team desperately needs.

Finally, this was a draft like no other. First time they draft an IOL. First RB they draft since Joe Williams. First QB they draft since Beathard. First draft they don't pick DL or WR.

Overall, incredible draft. Don't listen to dumb people saying they "didn't draft starters". Ignore them, they have no clue how this works.

Agreed on everything. On Saleh it was a good thing he wasn't hired by Cleveland, or else we wouldn't have gotten those 2 3rd rd comp picks, the rule began with this offseason.

Yep. One of those 3rds was used for Trey Lance I believe, the other became Trey Sermon. Saleh for the Treys

Yep, we traded the 2022 3rd rd comp as part of that deal, when you look at it, I'm kinda ok with the trade, especially now that we picked Lance, I mean we gave up 2 future 1s, but that comp 3rd is basically a early 4th rd pick when you think about it. I would have thought Miami would have wanted a 2nd rd pick instead of a 3rd, glad it didn't happen, we need our 2nd rd picks in 2022-2023, best case scenario, we get to the playoffs, and that 2022 1st rd pick is in the 19-32 range, worst case it's top 5-10, which would suck, but I love Trey Lance, and then we'd have an early 2nd, could trade into back end of round 1. So I'm no longer like WTF? I'm more like Ok, I like it now. I would have hated it if Mac Jones was the pick, thank god John & Kyle did an amazing job of trolling everyone, fans, media, etc..

Best case scenario Jimmy G plays out of his mind in a career year and somebody buys high on him in 2022 and the Lance era begins the same way Mahomes started his career. At the end of the day first round picks are a bit overrated, they are boom or bust as any other pick but more expensive in their rookie deals (how much money was wasted on Solly, lol). The 2022 draft class looks very underwhelming and teams rather sell their first round picks.

Yeah, true on 1st rounders, they're hit and miss, it's 50/50, and yeah teams will trade out of round 1, because they may have only X number of players rated as a 1st rounder. Every team has a different board, Miami apparently had Jaylen Waddle as their #1 WR.

Executive of The Year in Madden. I can't seem to get past yr 1 of my franchise, idk why, game is so meh, it's fun, I get it on PC with the EA subscription, plus all EA games, even new games.

Same here, I try to just ignore them, all they ever do is b***h, whine, moan, and complain, no wonder we get called the Forty Whiners

Yeah I know, but for some damn reason it annoys me because he does no research, like WFT can't fit JG on the roster, not enough cap room. Some teams will need to create cap room to just sign their picks, that's what Ian Rappoprt said about the Falcons, because their cap issues are a mess, that's why this whole Julio Jones talk has come up, but they can't trade him until June 2nd to save $15.3M, and we can't fit him under our cap, I did a projected 53 man, added in the practice squad and everything, almost $8M, before a Warner extension, so more likely $5M, unless they actually restructure someone's contract, only 4 players they could do that with are Jimmy, which makes no sense, if we did the max savings of $18.42M, the savings go from $25M to $8M.

Laken saves $2.808M, before the draft I thought maybe an extension since they redid him during the season and he has dead money($1,005,530) for 2022, but with the Banks & Moore picks I've changed my mind, what sucks is if he leaves we won't get a comp pick because he has multiple void yrs, and only players with actual expiring contracts count, guys with their option declined, like Von Miller, had they done that, they wouldn't get a comp pick cause that's also not part of the comp picks.

Armstead saves the team $4.528M if they redid his deal, also they'd add a void yr, which he already has in 2025, so same deal with him like Laken.

Ward, another guy with a void yr, I never understood why they signed him to a 3yr deal, that had 1 extra void yr for 2023, leaves $2M in dead money, he'd save $5.86M, but it would make it harder to get out of the deal after 2021, unless they Designated him a June 1 cut, but I'm certain he'll be around.

Another player who has a void yr is now Dee Ford, so after 2022 we won't be eligible for a 2023 comp pick.

I think if we can get an extra draft pick for Mostert, that would be another Brieda scenario. Just more draft capital for better players down the road. We missed out on getting a late round pick for Mullens with his injury.
If the Hurd pick finally pans out, I think he'll be the WR that plays in the slot that would have been a Julio Jones type of player. I think ShanaLynch didn't pick a WR because they think Hurd is healthy to play. We will see about that. If Banks and Moore pan out, there might be a possible trade for Laken.

I'm hoping we can free up Dee Fords spot for a talented and healthy DLineman. I hope Arden (and the other FA DLinemen) pans out like Hyder did for Kocurek and we can say adios to some of the higher priced DLinemen down the road. Hopefully the three DBs picked can give some help to Ward this year.

I just chose A- because didn't like the trade up for Sermon, every other move was incredible as usual

I thought the trade was really a very good move, I just didn't like the player that they drafted ..

but time will tell !!

I don't like drafting a RB in day 1 or 2 either. But this is the first RB they pick since Joe Williams and Sermon is way better as a prospect, he was carrying the OSU offense in games Justin Fields sucked. I guess they want to have a RB under control for 4 years instead of relying on 1 year rentals every year. Mostert was whinning for a trade a year ago, maybe his wish will be granted, or he'll go back to play gunner. Reality is Mostert has been as injury prone as Jimmy G.
Like the player, he could be an Alvin Kamara kind of talent, but the positional value is not there in round 3

If Trey Sermon can be Alvin Kamara 2.0 I think it would be worth it. He'd be the check down reciever Lance will need when he takes over from Jimmy. Now that we know the 2021 draft, if ShanaLynch hits on a couple of these players, the loss of two first round picks in the next two years won't hurt as much. They might even get one back if Jimmy lights it up this year.

If 49ers make the playoffs, I can see Mostert getting traded for something along the lines of Briedas trade value, if not more.
Super Bowl.

You can go to the Super Bowl with this draft.

C+

Love Trey Lance and OG. Hate moving to #3 for him.

Everything else was an injury/depth pick.

Sermon is a RB that's not big enough to be power and not fast enough to be fast.

B+ with potential to be A+

I really like the 1st pick overall
Focusing on areas of need (secondary and oline)
Making one of our strengths even stronger (run game)

I thought the draft was very good A-/B+ range. But it'll depend on Lance. Could be A+++/F. But I thought they addressed key positions and got at least 2 or 3 day 1 starters.

LET'S take out Lance out of the equation... we gave up two 1st and a 3rd... we made a very good 2nd round trade to pick up another pick this year..

the moves are very very good and I have no complaints about that.. . but the players we drafted, 70% PROJECTS !!!

I'm calling this class of ours... THE CRYPTO CLASS !!!

If you take Lance out of the equation then we didn't give up two 1sts and a 3rd.

Every draft pick ever made was a crap shoot and a "project." I think all the picks made can be starters on a lot of teams sooner than later.

Game is unplayable vanilla. Fortunately Madden 20 is mod-able. You can do some stuff in 21 too, such as adjust schedules, including kickoff times, using the Franchise editor.

But without user mods the game is hot garbage.
I'll give them a C

Give up two firsts + 12 for the most project QB in the class. I'm OK with it, but risky.

Draft two rbs, trading up for one when the best year of running the ball was by coleman/breida/mostert. Yes I know all rbs are FAs next year. They just signed Gallman. What happens this year? Do we carry six rbs with Juice?

Nice oline picks, but again no regard for value. But at least McGlinchey will be threatened.

They did take two corners and a safety, out of them I like the safety the most. The guy who can play outside looks very raw and will require time. If/when Verrett goes down we don't have a nfl ready outside corner imo.

This was not a good class for edge, but they are still super thin there. Dee Ford might not play another down and if Bosa has a setback, they are in deep, deep trouble.

Most of the players I do like, but this was a typical Shanahan Lynch draft where they ignored value and reached for a lot of their guys. I hope dearly that they made some right calls this time.

WR3 was not addressed at all in a class which was very deep WR.
Anyone who was losing their s**t about drafting Jones should give this draft a B minimum for that alone. The lead up to this draft was classic.

I'm very happy with the draft. Fields was my #1, but I'm also excited about Lance. His development will be interesting. His biggest issue was lack of reps and that doesn't really get fixed on the sideline. No doubt he's not ready yet, but it will be interesting to see how we bring him along.

2 x OL I'm ecstatic about. No more leftovers, no discount buys. We actually invested in guys we believe we can develop and fit into the line. Remains to be seen what the end results are, but happy so far.

2 x DB. It's nice when draft need meets BPA and listening to Lynch/Kyle that seems to be what happened. Neither of them will be required to start right away so they can sit back and develop.

2 x RB. Like others the second RB surprised me, but with the way we churn through them it doesn't hurt to have an extra one. If we had gone 2 of the same type I would have liked it less, but I'm happy to wait and see on this one.

Best part is that apart from maybe RG there's no pressure on any of these guys to start immediately. More depth never hurts.
