today, today just convinced me even MORE than both Kyle and John " Don't Know Draft " !!!

I thought the draft was very good A-/B+ range. But it'll depend on Lance. Could be A+++/F. But I thought they addressed key positions and got at least 2 or 3 day 1 starters.

It's Moon, he thinks he could draft better than Kyle & Lynch.
how you gonna leave out D lol

I do like the power running feel of this draft. Surprised they didn't draft a WR, but maybe Hurd can be healthy.

It does feel like Kyles moving to power run game doesn't it? For me, this draft addresses the long term QB issue with Trey Lance. I'm pretty confident he'll be torching defenses in a year or two with Kyle coaching him up.

Finally Kyle's 4 minute offense has some teeth. In both super bowl losses, I think the power run 4 minute offense was Kyle's Achilles heel. He needed a run game that can put teams away in the 4th QTr. Those two OLinemen and those RBs look like tailor made for a 4 minute offense. (B+)

Isn't Wilson more of a bigger back? I'm wondering if at the cut down if Elijah Mitchell, Wayne Gallman Jr. both play great, do you deal Mostert? He's not gonna be back in 2022 IMO, after asking for more money/new deal, gonna be 30 or so, seems Sermon will replace him touch wise.

As for the draft, A+, I love Lance, glad we filled the IOL holes with Banks, who should start at RG week 1, Jaylon Moore likely is the backup T, then take over at LG or RG, with Banks at LG in 2022. I think Brunskill could be groomed to be a C, he should be the backup C IMO

I was surprised by the Sermon pick, but like I said, I see him taking Mostert's spot in 2022.

the 3 DBs are nice, I like Ambry Thomas, Dede Lenoir, & Talaona Hufgana.

The Mitchell pick was odd, but Kyle liked his speed, so, I wonder if maybe they keep 5 backs, 5 WRs, and use Mitchell like CAR used Curtis Samuel, as a RB/Slot WR.

LET'S take out Lance out of the equation... we gave up two 1st and a 3rd... we made a very good 2nd round trade to pick up another pick this year..

the moves are very very good and I have no complaints about that.. . but the players we drafted, 70% PROJECTS !!!

I'm calling this class of ours... THE CRYPTO CLASS !!!

That is what a team that has a solid roster can afford to draft. We only had a few holes and a ton of depth to draft for. Teams that are rebuilding can't afford to take projects, but the luxury we have of simply waiting for our roster to heal is unlike any other team drafting on the top 10. We talk a lot about a player's floor/ceiling, but what about the team's? Our floor is a Super Bowl roster when healthy. So if Banks, Thomas and Moore pan out, and ESPECIALLY Lance, the ceiling is so high I can't even see it.

A-

Investing in the Oline was huge. Outside of that we didn't have many holes if everyone comes back healthy. I loved the multiple RB's we are a running team and now we have a stockpile of talent there. Good DB deapth and with our F/A signings and resignings we had a great offseason. This draft was for the future and starting with Trey we have a bright one hopefully.

I would do that quick
B+ could end up being an A+. I think we have 4 starters in Trey's, Banks and Thomas.

A+ to Giedi's assessment. Couldn't be more spot on and particularly the 4 minute O. As noted, kyle could have used that for a SB win, and will be lethal with the rest of the playbook in the future.

Just Banks alone was A+, 330 lbs with great feet , a former basketball player, so quick hand-eye coordination, and allowed either no sacks (or two), not sure. The real news is that he is a great run blocker which with his pass pro must have had JL/KS drooling. And nobody is going to run over him en route to our QB. A second OL , and two Corners + a safety, and I'd seen enough. Great draft right there. Then we uncharacteristically picked up a RB in Sermon in round THREE...of all places. Maybe we got a RB who can make it thru a yr unhurt for a change.

Two other RBs didn't matter, but Elijah if the 4.3 time is correct...that could be interesting. Can't wait to see our last pick, oddly enough.

Finally, keeping Lance out of the grade i give a strong A maybe even A+....for filling two obvious huge holes, one a mistake since KS/JL got here...the OL. Banks was great , but a second OL was even better yet.

Since there is so little film and so little time playing QB incl high school, no grade is possible for Lance. A+ to JL/KS for thinking into the future, and that includes cap $$$ also. Initially against the move, in time i understood the reasoning and it was very solid.
The draft grade really is going to be contingent on Trey Lance. You can have all the other draft picks flop but if he ends up being a franchise QB, then the niners still will get a good draft grade. Its like drafting an Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning. If you get a Franchise QB but all the other picks suck, 10 years from now you won't remember.

Personally, I like the draft strategy. Many may not like drafting 2 RBs, but with season being 17 games now, I think we are going to need additional RBs (even if some are stashed in PS) as that position seems to be the position that goes through RBs due to injuries. I like that we bolstered the interior o-line. And most important, I feel Shanahan seems to be learning when it comes to drafting. In prior drafts, he seemed to shy away drafting IOL and RBs as many here think you don't have to value these positions as much as other positions due to Shanahan's system. I'm glad he drafted these positions rather than rely on UDFAs. Also- I felt like there wasn't that scenario where they traded and over drafted a player (ala Pettis and Beathard). This has been driving me crazy about Lynch/Shanahan drafts. Maybe they have learned from these past mistakes.

I'm also intrigued by the Talanoa Hufanga pick. If healthy, I think he could be a great pick for us. He seems like he could be webzone favorite (ala Hurd).

If you think of it, out of the 5 QBs, Lance is in the best situation, Jags, Jets are rebuilding, What WRs besides Allen Robinson does the Bears have? Mac Jones probably 2nd best situation.

And yes we have a Super Bowl roster when healthy, I can envision Sermon starting at RB, Deebo & Aiyuk at WR, Kittle at TE, Juice at FB, a OL of Trent-Moore/McKivitz-Mack-Banks-McGlinchey, I can also see Ambry Thomas & Deommodore Lenoir ending up starters down the road. Same with Hufanga. So we may have drafted 6 or 7 future starters if all things pan out.

Yep, there's that, then the crazy idea he had about moving up 1 spot to 2nd overall. I actually think he said Jimmy and Deebo for Sweat.

Well, actually maybe one less minus because we got Eli Mitchell.
