You act like this never happens in the NFL. Foster will get another chance and if he screws up it's on Foster not Lynch

why does it kill you to just say lynch made an error in player judgement.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Lynch spent time with the guy. He also sent a pastor/counselor and another staffer to spend two days with him. They all affirmed that he was worth the risk. As of 2/13/18 it looks like the decision reached by all those people MAY have been wrong. However, there should be no rush to judgement. There is no need to hurry. OTAs are two months away. There is plenty of time to reach a measured decision as to what to do. In the meantime, the legal proceedings will bring us a great deal more information.

For my part, I am fine with him serving a one year suspension if for nothing more than sending him a stern wake-up call.

As to short-term action by Lynch, the only thing that is clear is that he no longer has any options with the first choice in the draft. It MUST be a ILB, either Smith or Edmunds. So while that may not be the worst thing that could happen, it shows how serious this matter has become.

My .02 worth...

Why? Even without Reuben OL, CB and LEO are bigger needs. We'll need to add to the position either way but Croyle should resign, Smith is coming back at WILL along with Lee who has some upside. I don't get people panicking about having to take an ILB early now..

Agreed

it wouldn't kill me if it was really a mistake on Lynch's part.
of course not.

Yes he is the GM of the year.

Drafting and trading players is his Job. Now, say if JG turned out to be a bust then he should be blamed.

We can still take an ILB and fix the oline

Kyle Shanny says to throw in Joe Williams on Lynch's tab.

sorry. its a big need now. no clue about smith and what else do you have? no we draft a inside backer with our first pick or second.
well it looks like you are getting yourself ready to blame Lynch if we don't go LB

Could address LB'er in FA, or outside of the first or second round round. This team is not obligated to go after the high priced FA's or most hyped LB'ers in the draft class, Borland and Bowman both were found in the 3rd round. We may take one early or sign a name player to fill the void but also a chance we do not.

what a gift. you know how posters think before they think. but i will say lynch is a moron if he is counting on foster and he is stupid if he does not draft a good backer in rounds one or two. unlike you,. i do not think we are just fine without a good middle linebacker on our team

I think the 49ers have a great opportunity here to do the right thing and really build the foundation of high expectations this team has wanted for some time now. One defensive player is not going to bring this team back down from a possible 10 win season to a 6 win season. Dude didn't play half of every game anyway.

Do the right thing, Lynch. Blaze the trail to what winning with class really means.

He's not an all-pro already so clearly it was a huge mistake drafting him, in the fourth round. Fireable offense for Lynch?

i just think its amusing the people lynch said would be cornerstones for our defense in ward and foster went down the tubes or are going down the tubes. and what has joe done to make anyone think he will be a player for us or even be on the team next year. maybe lynch should not run around with his mouth making such bold predictions for players like ward and foster

Joe hasn't obviously done anything except flash a time or two in a preseason game and then hurt his ankle and go on IR. Doesn't mean he will or won't be anything for this team.

He's got three more years on his rookie contract. Have some patience and ignore the idiots who make stupid proclamations. Hot takes don't mean anything.
