Maybe Joe can transition to a role on the coaching staff or in the FO.

Thanks for all the years and hard work, Joe.
He seemed to want to play out the final two years of his contract in the days leading up to the SB, so I guess the time off since then just got to him to change mindset about his latest injuries this past year.

Yup. Maioccio has been saying this for many weeks. I'm not surprised at all.

Sigh. Joe was great—as a player and as a teammate. Nothing more needs to be said. One of the best to ever do it.

No rings for Joe, Gore, J. Smith, Willis, or Bowman. What a travesty.

Thank you Joe. One of the best 49ers in history. I'll miss his corniness and professionalism. Class act.

It really is. Just goes to show much of a QB driven league it is. POS Nolan drafting the wrong QB f**ked it all up.

So much of this to a great guy as a 49er

Most great players in pro sports never get rings. It's the way things break, especially when one franchise gets 6 in a 19-year span.
The 49ers getting 5 in a 15-year span prevented a lot of great players on other teams from getting rings. Those are simply the breaks of the league.

A 49ers team with no Staley.
It's been a while, it'll be a new experience without him there.
Really sad to see it. Can't stick around forever though.
Sorry we couldnt get him the ring. Two great teams just not good enough to win a superbowl.

Joe LOVES the faithful. Probably the only way he plays one more year is if we start some sort of campaign. I think we could convince him to give it one more go.
