Really wish we could have got this guy a ring. Joe was a true Niner.

We didn't just lose a great player but also a great leader. A huge portion of Mcglincheys progress can be attributed to Staley.

Today has been a sad day. This is almost as bad as the Super Bowl loss. 2020 has been an awful year:

Kobe's passing
Fires in Australia
Super Bowl loss
Corona Virus

But all of this pales into comparison for the Joe Show.

Reportedly set to retire, OT Joe Staley holds $1M of dead cap on his current contract w/ the #49ers. If SF processes the retirement Post 6/1, that will split into $500,000 each of the next 2 seasons. Cap relief to extend Trent Williams.

I hope we bring him on as an assistant coach or scouting assistant if he's interested in that. He'd also be good as a color commentator.

Joe likely told Lynch prior to the draft but it was all kept secret to not tip Lynch's hand in the draft. Now passing on Wirfs makes sense.

I just saw it. This really sucks. I am SO glad that we have an immediate replacement. Hell, we have an upgrade. But this sucks. I wish there was some way we can get him to stay a final year. A man that suffered through Nolan, Singletary, Tomsula, Kelly, Baalke, etc. This is so bittersweet.
