Unless he's made a total about face, Staley isn't retiring. He said he's playing out his contract.

Yeah, I'm not buying it. It would be an all-time dick move by Staley to screw the Niners with indecision leading up to the draft. It would be so out of character it's difficult to believe.
Maybe Trent Williams can play RG.

People keep saying that's a ridiculous idea, and I know you're probably joking, but it would by far be the most efficient situation for us IMHO. Williams has experience at guard and apparently he played well (or so I've been told by at least one Skins fan). Having both Staley and Williams means we can upgrade our interior for 2020 and have a franchise LT for 2021 and beyond. I'd be down for that personally.

Thank you joe for all of your hard work. Where do you guys rank him on the all time 49er offensive line list?

If he does decide to hang em up... well done on a HOF career with a HOF personality.

Williams is too good as a LT to make him play G lol. Out of the two right now, Williams is just much better than Joe. Both would be really good Gs as well, Joe would play even better as a G than a LT. Especially in a zone blocking scheme. Joe would've been a pro bowl G as well, but you don't play guys like Joe and Trent at Gs when they are so athletic. But at this point in Joe's career, he's much better suited as a G.

He said he didn't want to play guard. He also said he wanted to play out his contract. Who knows now.

Way back in the day, Leo Nomelini was a HOF player who played both ways. He would be the leader in the club house but Joe would be right up there with him.

If he's done playing, I want him in the organization, but I think he's got his sights set on broadcasting or sports journalism...

No disrespect but you sound like a dimwit when you talk down Joe like that. Joe and Trent are like maybe three or four top tackle in the league. Joe finish third-fewest pressures last season with a broken leg. So no disrespect but your opinion is way off here. Both Joe and Trent can take any position on the line but Joe is more versatile and athletic. He can do the footwork a guard needs to do Trent might not be able to. So Joe should take the assignment because he's better at it. It's not even clear Trent can pass a physical right now so we have to wait and see for everything. You should be apologizing to your handle. Gore loves Joe. Some people.

Disagree. Joe was the #7, IIRC, rated OT last season.
