Really don't know what game you were watching and seeing Trey as being 'spastic and uncomfortable' in the pocket. Aside from maybe two plays where he sensed pressure a bit early, he was very solid from a clean pocket.

Ok, I know I am not seeing things. He may improve with more time, and more experience, but last game, he was innacurate, he was throwing ducks, he was scared and panicky. He was totally unprepared and did not look ready or comfortable. He ran the second the first read wasnt there and he started freaking out. It was everything I was worried about. Whats worse it seemed his mechanics got worse. I dont know what shanahan has been doing with him. lets hope he improves.

I disagreed. We all know about his athleticism and arm strength. Outside of that, the biggest positive coming out of the game was his pocket presence, feel for the rush, and pocket movement. He was very good in these areas. He wasn't looking to just take off and run, rather he was looking to buy time to throw when possible. The problem with him was reading defense and mechanics.

I'm so freaking pissed at the NFL for screwing up gamepass.

Our first real look at Lance and it's missing like 5 or 6 or his dropbacks, stupid loading interface, I'll lose the first 3 seconds to show on any video cause it has the play options that won't go away and clear the screen for 3 seconds. Like, this feels 1000x worse than it was before.

Is it doing the same for other week 4 games?

First of all I don't think he looked a shaky as you do. He struggled at first but he settled down in the 4th quarter. You have to consider that he had no reps with the first team during the week. other than maybe a couple of special plays. He probably played Russell Wilson for the scout team. Expecting him to look polished and ready under those circumstances is silly. Jimmy has a lot of experience under his belt and he still looks confused when rushed.

I realize he has to work on mechanics , especially that long throwing motion but he has something Jimmy doesn't. Mobility and the threat to run. That's one of the reasons Deebo was so wide open. The defense briefly came up to protect against him running and that allowed Deebo to get wide open when nobody picked him up. Jimmy doesn't create that kind of situation.
This is a pretty quick watch. Trey was obviously stiff when he first came in, as he should be, but you can clearly see him settle in and start gunning it. There may be some he could take a little off if, but for the most part that howitzer is going to put the ball in a position where either his receiver gets it or nobody does.

I watched a show called NFLIcons last night. It's a new series on EPIX channel. The first episode was about Brett Favre. It was mentioned several times tha the often threw too hard and Mike Holmgren was seen asking him to take a little off. It was Brett's style and it served him well. All the way to the HOF.
Give him a full week of prep with Scangarello. Let's go

And the receivers can get used to catching his balls with practice. That ball he put on Kittle in the end zone was a damn good pass. Kittle should catch that and will with practice. You know who will never get used to catching them? The defenders.

I say start him against the Cards and give Jimmy this week and the bye week to heal. It's going to be a tough game no matter who starts with the way Arizona is playing. I don't want to see them rush Jimmy back if he's not 100% for a game we might not win anyway.Let trey get the experience even if he gets knocked around. The other rookies are going through it and it's a learning experience. It helps toughen these guys up. They can't go through life thinking everything is easy.

Kyle knows that and he will do what he can to mask that for as long as possible. He knows it will be a disaster if Trey has to start

Only he did play from the pocket at NDSU. Dude played under center more than any QB in this draft. He ran more pro-style plays then anyone in this draft. He actually had to call protections and wasn't getting stupid card calls from the sideline, they were long drawn out play calls THAT he had to then change based on the coverage.

The only thing he's missing is more snaps, that's it. What he did have for snaps in NDSU was legit on passing downs...It wasn't a s**t ton of bubble screens and just calling out where the MIKE is.

Does Mac Jones and his 70 passer rating look good?

Not sure what he has to do with this, but yeah. He looks good for a rookie with zero explosive weapons. He's cerebral and in control.

I think you should go be a Patriots fan. Your heart isn't with the future of the Niners. Bye.

Fans typically have unrealistic expectations. The guy came off the bench, executing a gameplan designed for a different style qb with no first team reps that week. I'd say he did fine out there, considering the circumstances. We should all wait until he has a week of preparation and a gameplan that is designed for him before we begin criticizing.

I'm still excited for Trey

I'm actually more excited after the Seahawks game. He can only get better right? Outside of the first couple drives I felt like anything can happen on any play. Meaning I felt a big play was coming every time he dropped back. I don't feel that way for Jimmy

The best you can say about Jimmy is that he's solid. Trey, you can say can be dynamic.

Trey is like Kyler Murray, but with an adult sized body.

Yea whenever Trey did a play-action or dropped back I was like oh sh*t here we go. Whenever Jimmy does that i'm like get those 10 yards Jimmy!

Which isn't bad either. I think as fans it's like we know what we get from the best version of Jimmy. An almost SB win in a perfect environment (O-line, defense, good ST's). But not every year is going to be like 2019. That's why we need Lance to be good

I still say Trey should start vs Colts also. It gives Jimmy's leg plenty of time and it won't matter who is under center, we'll beat the Colts. If Trey still looks shaky then, Jimmy will be good to go and coach can make the switch.
