Cheers NY, it always makes me laugh people trying to jump on Kyle's play calling. Dude is playing 4D chess, he doesn't care if he loses a few pieces he's plotting the checkmate.

For me it's never been Trey vs Jimmy, it's what Kyle can do with Trey at his disposal. Combine that with what Trey will be when he's developed and it's an easy decision for me.

If I were Jimmy I'd do everything I could to play this week, I think it'll be the last we see of him as our starting QB if he doesn't.

Not saying Trey will light up the Cards, but with the development of that game and the starters reps in the bye week and Kyle should be confident enough to start him.

Yeah man, the possibilities with Kyle and Lance are pretty wild. It's for sure not gonna happen overnight and for the love of god 49er fans need to understand and accept this.

Watching Herbert last night and I was like man why can't that be Lance? Both are really football smart, cannon arms, mobile, big, great work ethic etc. The major difference was Herbert just has a lot more football under his belt and got thrown into the mix in what week 2 last yr?

Watching Lance on Sunday you could see him getting antsy in the pocket, he missed some reads and his footwork overall wasn't relaxed and calm (like Herbert). You could tell he wasn't prepared to be back there and just amped up to go make plays...Once he becomes more confident in the pocket and his reads pre/post, the footwork will be so much better.

Gonna take time and that will require him to actually play football...

Trey looks like he has never in his life played from the pocket. You guys are vastly underestimating how far he has to come to even be below average there.
Kyle knows that and he will do what he can to mask that for as long as possible. He knows it will be a disaster if Trey has to start

Lance is already better than Mac.

What's funny is the people who think that one half of football for a rookie is all they needed to see. This generation is really special lol

It's a special kind of dumb

Appreciate the personal attack.

No one is saying Lance can't or won't be better than Mac down the road. But it's simply dishonest to suggest that Lance is better than Mac right now. He isn't. Mac is better in the pocket, throws the ball confidently and accurately, and is in command of his (albeit limited) offense. The difference is easy to spot—all you need to do is watch the tape. And I watch the Pats AND the 49ers almost every Sunday (no, it's not because I'm secretly a Pats fan).

Lance is raw. Mac is not. Accept it. Move on.

Yeah, Mac is functional, Trey is not at this point.

The raw QB has produced 3 TDs and 0 INTs in far fewer snaps

The guy who "looks" amazing has 4 TDs and 4 INTs full time

The goal on offense is to score TDs

The NFL is entering an analytics shift where explosive TDs have more value than ball control FG drives

He has no touch, pocket awareness, or anticipation.

is anyone working with him on this at all? to me. that is the big question. the true test on if kyle actually can develop a qb.. jimmy is the same . aside from maybe limited mobility cuz of injuries, that he was when he first got here. did kyle work with jimmy on the things he needs work on? who is our qb coach and what does he do with trey. even with trey not playing in real time.... he should be getting alot of work with the qb coach and kyle in practice and afterwards on the things he needs work on,,, what type of magic are talking about? kyles magic.. after a few years of hearing this.. i am wondering just what that is. i get the need to protect kyle and how much you like him.. but do not set there and tell us that kyle has nothing to do with the development of trey. you are telling me that the qb coach and kyle have nothing to do with treys touch.. his pocket awareness anticipation or anything else?? that is what you are saying.?

The stats don't tell the full story. Two of those TDs came right at the goal line when he was subbed in and one was on a completely busted coverage (and that's putting it mildly). And on that note, only one of those TDs could possibly be characterized as "explosive."

Who said Mac looks "amazing"? He looks fine. But he looks better than Lance.

Again, watch the tape.

Kyle needs to sit Jimmy these next two games to rest that calf and get him ready for after the bye. Trey would have the next two games to show improvement.

Watching the Sunday night game, I was pretty impressed with Mac Jones.

You're going up against the GOAT who used to run the team you're currently on.

Patriots fans are not generous either. they put a lot on his shoulders

That's a lot of pressure on a rookie and he handled it well. props to Mac.

Let Trey watch on the sidelines as much as possible this season.
He´s not ready to play yet but you have to be blind to not see the massive potential this kid has.
Hope Jimmy and Trey lead the team to the PO this year.

One more game and then we have a bye.

Chill out for a week or 2 homie. Everyone knows you hate the pick no one cares. Everyone knows Mac is better right now. No one cares. Everyone knows the upside of Trey is tremendous. He's the niners qb. Let's watch the ups and downs for the season and go from there. He's going to be the tide that raises or sinks this ship period.

I'm so freaking pissed at the NFL for screwing up gamepass.

Our first real look at Lance and it's missing like 5 or 6 or his dropbacks, stupid loading interface, I'll lose the first 3 seconds to show on any video cause it has the play options that won't go away and clear the screen for 3 seconds. Like, this feels 1000x worse than it was before.

It's fitting that you chose to post this in the Lance thread, instead of the Jimmy G one.

Why? It might effect Trey starting which is something we all expected.

Sorry, the next game.

Trey needs to have a good game to get the fans feeling good about him again. It seems like the fans confidence is waning on him a little bit.

Well, if he starts, the gameplan will be his and not Jimmy's... sooo, look for a couple legitimate options beyond 15 yards... That should help keep the defense honest in the box and should allow the running game to benefit from more space.
