Apparently he filed some documents with the NFLPA that voided his contract and prevents the Raiders from using their Franchise tag on him.
Sounds like this is legit.

That's pretty big. I'd still rather get a lockdown corner in the draft, but there's some risk in that.
Signing him would improve our team dramatically.

Grabbing Asomugha would allow us a lot of latitude in the draft. Round 1 being a QB then the rest of the draft can really be BPA between DE, OLB, G, and CB. SIGN HIM!

Pay that man!! Then dump Clements and draft Dareus to play DE.
A shutdown CB, bookend DEs, and and All-World ILB... that's a defense.

Per Schefter's twitter report, Asomugha contract voids and will become a FA, what a signing he would be for the 49ers to help our secondary!

I say the Niners pay the man. We usually don't go bing in FA, but this is the guy that could really improve our defense. It would also open up the draft for us. It allows us to go after a QB with more flexibility and not have to worry about using the #7 pick on a corner, who may or may not drop to us. I say its a no brainer, get this guy please.

I hope we pursue him hard. It's going to be a massive deal - likely highest paid defender type money. But I think Asomugha is worth it.

How feasible is signing Aso though ? Whether we keep or cut Clements that's a load of money tied up at CB.
AB83 can you provide the cap insight on this one ?

Oh man, could you imagine if we got Harbaugh and a week later Nnamdi??
I'm not getting my hopes up, but that would be awesome.
