Do you want to win on Sunday against the Cardinals?

If you look at this situation as a business decision you start Nate Davis to not only see what he has, but to increase the likelihood of a loss to preserve our draft status. If you argue this business is about winning every game, which of course is true, but for narrow minded folks, this includes games which can hurt the team. The broad minded folks will also give importance to winning games, but not the ones that hurt the team. Winning games "in the long run" by drafting higher through a final game loss in a tanked season is the way to go. GO NINERS!

Drafting a rookie QB isn't necessarily the best recipe to fix our QB woes...I'm all for drafting one, but a better option IMHO is to make a deal for a young veteran...someone like Philly's Kolb. I'd say chances are pretty good Vick will re-sign with them...because it was Andy Reid who gave Michael a real 2nd chance. So, Kolb would theoretically be available...it's unlikely they keep him and Vick, due to salary cap limitations (maybe) although it's possible. Jed's new GM would need to make a deal, but he's worth giving up a draft pick and/or another player. They can still draft a QB and develop him, rather than throwing another one to the wolves, a la Alex. I think it's important they win on Sunday to go into the off-season on a positive note...so much about this season's been negative. Now they're rid of Singletary...and so they can rally around Tomsula and finish with a win. The new GM should focus on CB and DL early in the next draft...those areas also need upgrading.

This is all the kind of stuff a new GM and new head coach have to decide on. Do we have enough talent right now --that with a decent QB we can win now--so get/trade for some existing QB. ( jed thought we should be in the playoffs)

or

Is the team full of too many holes that can't be fixed right away---so draft a young QB and by the time he is ready in 2-3 years---the rest of the team will be ready also.

the new GM will play a key part in how the Niners proceed.

Its just better if the 49ers just play their hearts out on sunday against the cards and do their best to win the damm game and if we end up losing so what!! we already lost the biggest games of the year so another loss wont exactly shock the team but its team to clean up this mess!!!
I don't like the idea of tanking in any game, even a meaningless one.

However, if the team has an eye on Luck, it would be far easier and way less costly to up from #5 than #11.

I am completely conflicted
I would have voted 4 the loss had it not been a division game.
Against the Cards i hope we have 373 rush yds with AD over D. Docket with VD T-Baggin him all day.... when he gets mad and ejected we can all celebrate...
The Niners will probably win and screw up their draft positioning and end up around 13th in all seven rounds.

What's best for the future of the team?? Win and end up around picks 11-14 or lose and end up around picks 5-7?

I'd say getting draft positioning 5-7 is best for the future of the team.
if we lose we can pick 5 and win 9-11 so......

lose please
start the damn third stingers,

even Nate Davis.

He's a fu*kin retard.
Just Lose Baby!
in all seriousness, we should sit Spikes and Willis. Their hand injuries are serious and can risk permanent damage. Watch Crabtree or VD tear an ACL.
I knew there was another thread like this already, there may even be 3.
i'm numb to the pain already and don't care.
I want them to lose, but I dont want to watch it happen.....

Being in the top 10 will cost the Niners a ton of money on an unproven player. Either way, they lose.

Might as well win the game!!!
Crap, Bill Cohwer just said Kolb will go to AZ next year for a 2nd. It was a prediction, but Marino was like, "Do you have inside info on that?" Cohwer was just laughing and of course he knows Wizenhunt well. I sure hope to God he is wrong....
