He was director of player personnel here...seems pretty lateral, he must have wanted to move back to the east coast.

Wtf...Didn't he hold the same title here? Must be an east coast guy, or they gave him a pay raise to make a lateral move like that. I didn't think he was going to leave after all the GM spots filled up.

I don't think it's as big a deal as people think. They gave him permission to talk with them a long time ago so they couldn't be that worried about him leaving. The reason is that they are reported to have a very good scouting organization and the thinking is that someone from that group will be promoted from within.
