With that said, jed was clear this organization wins superbowls. That's why shanalynch was brought in. 5 seasons in and we are empty.

That 6 doesn't look like it's coming any time soon even in a weak NFC as the AFC are competing so hard with each other they might go on a 10-year run of winning Superbowls. It reminds me of the old 49ers-Cowboys off season battles where those teams were competing so hard with each other they created a monster gap between them and anyone else they played.

Just heard on KNBR. "49ers one of the teams meeting with Watson"

Well another source said we are! So which is it????

Id believe the guy who covers the Niners.

Who's the source for KNBR?
I usually trust Maiocco when he reports something. If it's conjecture on his part, he'll say so, but I find him to be trustworthy when reporting news.

Agreed. With an extremely raw rookie qb, and a Swiss cheese oline, I would be extremely, albeit pleasantly, surprised if we even sniff a superbowl in the next 3 years.

Um didn't the Rams just win the Super Bowl and the Bucs the year before them. AFC has some catching up to do I would say.
Hopefully it's just Lynch and Ballard going through a stare down. At 4:59 pm
eastern, Lynch will say "you won" we will take a X round pick for Jimmy G.

it's feeling like X=3rd, but could be a 5th or two 6s at this point.
I've cracked some jokes about Lynch as a GM. But he's been really good overall. Shanahan's inability to make proper decisions in relation to the QB position has probably cost him a championship….because the rest of the roster is championship worthy.

if we end up cutting jimmy i want to see how lynch bathwater drinkers spin that.. actually.. i want to see lynch and kyle spin it.. most likely they will let the sword fall on someone else in the organization

It will be Jan in payrolls fault. Lynch could be a politician with how smooth he doles out the bs.

I would be shocked if they had to cut JG. It really looks like it's either a minimal compensation trade, holding onto JG in the hopes you garner more by waiting (this is like holding a bad stock hoping it will go up), or holding onto JG because Trey isn't ready (this would be the worst case). Best case though, which is still possible, is the 49ers and team X are simply ironing out the details, and the compensation is very good. I'm not an optimist, but hey, maybe....

And poor Jan.
I'm totally guessing here -

If we fail to trade JG, they may resign him to a new much more cap friendly deal and trade him later when an opportunity presents itself. I can't see them just letting him walk.

I see probs with this such as:

A) he would have to agree to the deal which means he agrees to a pay cut. he may just flat refuse which would be his right.
B) not sure the terms of this deal but one of the attractive points is he has no future deal so a new club could structure a new deal however they like in agreement with JG. We would basically be handling the new deal part how it is best for us and not giving the next club this opportunity.

Ha. I meant from this season on.

But couldn't his new team just do this? I mean, any trade is going to be a contract rework anyway.

I hope that's not the case going forward but it certainly is true ATM.

Very nice. Just make sure to trade those 3rds into multiple 5ths, and we're cooking.
