As the San Francisco 49ers inch closer to the start of training camp, two defenders are giving fans an encouraging look at their offseason progress.
Videos recently surfaced showing safety Malik Mustapha and defensive end Keion White training ahead of the 2026 campaign. While Mustapha looks to build on his first two NFL seasons, White continues to work his way back from a significant offseason injury.
Mustapha is expected to enter training camp as one of the 49ers' starting safeties after emerging as a key contributor over his first two NFL seasons. During that span, he has totaled 148 tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, and eight passes defensed while establishing himself as a physical presence in San Francisco's secondary.

White, meanwhile, is recovering from ankle surgery he underwent in February after suffering a gunshot wound.
Fortunately, the injury was not considered career-threatening, and 49ers general manager John Lynch has expressed confidence that the defensive end will make a full recovery and could be available for the start of training camp.
The latest video of White working on a treadmill provides another encouraging sign that his rehabilitation remains on track. If he is cleared to return, the 49ers hope White can provide rotational depth and help bolster a defensive front looking to rebound after recording an NFL-low 20 sacks last season.
