it's good they are frustrated. means they are aiming higher than just making the playoffs. if they are as strong a team as they appear they will turn frustration to hard work and eventually break through this plateau.

I'm not suggesting that I am discontent. Don't attack the messenger. Read and listen to the tone of the post game player comments. Crabs and Braylon were definitely acting like they should have been targeted more - in other words, "it's not my fault ask the......".
Can't tell if crabs was complaining about the play calling or the QB.
Edwards was clearly pointing to the coaches for him "not being on the field.". I AGREE, Braylon complaining is ridiculous. But if he is not practicing, how does he expect to be in tune with the QB. Yes, they had some time during training camp, but a QB' timing changes also as the season progresses.
even Smith was pointing out specifics, penalties causing long third downs, etc this time in his talking to the press. During the game you could see him venting a couple of times to Harbaugh. Once it looked like he was complaining about the delay in play calling, another it looked like he said something like "how about some blocking."
And even Harbaugh was frustrated during the game about the penalties, and the lack of lining up quickly causing delay of game.
All I am saying is that the coaches need to make an effort to not let the frustration lead to finger pointing. When you are not even a year removed from years of poor coaching and player divisions, you need to keep those feelings from resurfacing.

It's not a matter of discontent at all.
Rather, it's statements and reactions by our playmakers (particularly Crabtree, who's having his breakout year, and VD who has been a beast the past two years) expressing frustration with two main issues:
1) They know that we can do better, and have done so, as team than we showed yesterday.
2) Play calling, particularly in the redzone, has been extremely conservative and predictable all year, and especially since Crabtree ran that drag route of motion which was I think against the Browns at the end of October.
I'm somewhat troubled at the lack of imagination in our playcalling and game planning, that seemed to be so adaptable in the early going, the last several weeks; I mean, for example, Delaine hasn't event caught a pass in like 3 or 4 weeks. That said, I'm inclined to think that Harbaugh is playing it close to the vest, after showing a lot of variation earlier in the season (shifts, motion, OL and DL catching passes, etc) and, with our playoff spot long locked up (OK, not the 3 seed) intentionally decided to give teams less film to go over. Yesterday was the most vanilla play calling we've seen all year. We seemed to run that offset I-formation at least half of our plays. Yesterday also marked the first time all year these conservative calls, especially in the redzone, came back to bite us in the ass.
However, given the wonders Harbaugh has worked with this team (and let's be honest, he truly has despite some rough goings the last couple weeks) I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt; I refuse to believe we would suddenly lose our imagination and variety on offense that proved to be crucial difference-maker during the 8 game win streak. It's coming back, just in time for the playoffs.

And obviously there are, as crabs was clearly upset after the game. I can't say what they were mad about but its gotta be alex or the ol....
Who had to be restrained when VD dropped that TD pass last week? Everyone who catches passes on this entire f**king team not named Kyle Williams better f**king man up and take their share of the blame. You want the ball to come your way? CATCH IT!
I'm not saying Alex is blame-free because he's definitely not.
My favorite line from the OP was 'Braylon's not content with his role' or whatever. Gimme a f**king break. He's flat out sucks. Not a weapon whatsoever.
The only one that has a legitimate gripe is Gore. But he has to get it through his head there is a bigger picture here. We are not going to go anywhere in the playoffs riding his fragile ass the whole time.
You win, no problems. You lose, blame starts flying. It's the nature of team sports. This was a team loss, coaches and players alike. Nothing more, nothing less. That is it. Fix it and this will all be forgotten.
I don't know why so many people are saying, "after it's fixed'.. You can't fix what's wrong with parts of this team in 3 weeks, can't be done. The Niners are, what they are. No more, and no less. The offense sucks, it's a fact. The run game was good while Frank was "healthy" and the rest of the league hadn't seen enough yet to scheme it that well. That time is over and the passing offense is not good and for a fact it's part reciever issues with crap routes and hands and it's equal parts Smith, because the ball does not go where players can make a great attempt at making a good play, most of the time. The Oline play has some things to do with how long Smith holds the ball and gets no quick release, aside from the fact they are simply being overwhelmed by constant 5-7man blitzes nearly every other play; sometimes every play, and these be run blitzes that blend right into QB blitzes. Because our offense, currently, gets 0 respect.
Can't "fix" this stuff this year. They have already over achieved thanks to the coaching and hte early "buy-in" to the new regime. Smith gets a 2 year offer, max, Brylon gets not offer to resign, Chilo is out, etc.. Bet the other QB don't get lots more reps next year in camps and at OTAs? Please Morgan come back soon, a man who can catch..
Sure they are getting discontented, they thought they would keep dominating, and this is not the case. BTW- AZ is not a $hit team, look who they beat, if they are $hit, then we are the same coz we beat, almost the same teams. BS I call; the same crap I read endlessly about going to the Pack's house and how we will do, how AZ is an afterthought, etc.. how about focusing on, the next team up, at all times?
So let's just enjoy the rest of the ride, after all it's been way better than anticapated. I think we get the 4th seed, Steelers and @ Sealtte, not pretty I think.. 11-5

How bout getting open, not dropping third and fourth down passes, actually seeing the ball when its in the air, running the correct route, showing up to training camp.
What the hell is this solid argument doing in this thread let alone NT? Leave us be so we can overreact and overreach in this our time of sorrow. Everyone knew before this season that 10-3 at this point of the season just wouldn't be good enough and that such a record would usher in a new era of player discontent and near mutiny. Logic is not tolerated here sir.

They know they can do better. They are missing opportunities and losing to teams they can beat. In this way they should be mad. It's just a matter of how they respond. You can't point fingers. You have to come together as a team and regroup and do better.

They're not happy? GOOD! If they were shrugging off the loss, then I would be worried.
I think we need to take more risks in the rz. I think we've been far too conservative, and afraid of turning it over. Let's use Alex's mobility to run some boot legs or something different than what we've been running.
