Maybe he can...I hope he can. But I don't see how you can just sweep it under the rug and say "Welp, dat's the preseason for ya!"

Zero of Shanahan's play calls last night asked Garoppolo to frantically throw what should have been two picks in six attempts.

well you have alot of people today sweeping it under the rug by saying. its not the the regular season. most nfl teams have some offensive line issues and denver has a good defense

This is really no big deal IMO regarding Jimmy G...

This is my read on what happened, it looked like Denver had used the prior two days joint practices to scheme the h3ll out of our O and write a good book on it, and knew what was coming. Kyle did zero game planning for the Denver D, he just ran his vanilla preseason stuff and it was easy for Denver to see what was coming and when.

Count me as not worried.

Garoppolo will complete his first pass on Saturday and the homers will be like "where you haterz at??"... as if anybody was hating on Garoppolo. You can have concern and hope he kills it at the same time.

With this s**tty OL, I would just wave the white flag and throw bubble screens all day just to pad his stats. My 2 cents

Argh, I hate to bring this dude up, but he mentioned something that also crossed my mind. Cohn mentioned that Jimmy had zero play-action passes last night.

Why?!

Just because someone is stupid, doesnt mean all of his thoughts are stupid.

That is one thing that drives me nuts about the anti-Grant Cohn people. Yes. overall he is a moron who says dumb things. But that doesnt mean everything he says needs to be dismissed.

Cohn was right on with his comments about Jimmy's lack of playaction last night. A very good point.

Von Miller and chub aren't Ian Williams or demarcus Dobbs. Also we didnt play a lot of our starting pass catchers or starting defenders. Also its preseason. So you can look at it half full or half empty. You can scare yourself silly or you can enjoy the fact that he's back and that our defense looks great. Up to you.
i think just saying, its only pre season and denver has a good defense is nothing but denial and deflection to a serious issue on our team . you could also call it sweeping it under the rug. its up to you

If yesterday doesn't concern you at least a little bit, then you're being deliberately overly optimistic. At a minimum it should be concerning, but with a game in 5 days and a defense that hasn't played against us, I expect a bounce back game, at s minimum to shift the narrative going into the season.

i wouldnt weigh too much into that after only like 7 pass attempts or less in a preseason/vanilla offensive game.

Yeah, says the guy who was convinced we couldn't sign Jimmy to a long term contract. Yeah I tried back then to help you look at it realistically, it didnt work then, so why bother now.

So you are saying that the lack of playaction last night, when our entire offense is predicated on outside zone and the playaction off of it, is not something worth noting? I think it was absolutely a valid point and kind of headscratching that we didnt see any of it.
There is bad news and good news. The bad: Garoppolo looks like a big question mark going into the season. The good: The defense on this team is going to be ferocious and keep us in every game. This team has the potential to have the best defensive line in the history of the franchise. When you have studs like Bosa and Ford anchoring the ends, it is going to completely unlock the talent of Buckner, Thomas and Armstead. We will shut down opponents and chase the team record for sacks in a season. Adequate play by Garoppolo or Mullens could still get us in the playoffs.

Well, when it comes to Jimmy Garoppolo... it's not like we are operating with a ton of prior experience.
