i think we will have much better coaches than last year. mangini represents everything that is or was wrong with us last year in my opinion. the whole f**king staff should have been gutted and swept away in the delousing station of nfl history

yah Im with you cc I want everybody gone, not only that I want them tarred and feathered on the way out of town.

i get so mad when posters say we need to make sweeping changes then once it starts to happens, they start to back track and say,, well , well this person actually deserves to stay and so does this one. hell with them,. you line em out outside and shoot em all,. if jed is worried about spending money on bullets well, then you make two stand back to back and use one bullet for both, call service master in here to clean up the mud and the blood, get the stench out and then start anew
If there is nothing better I'm fine with him as DC. I think anybody we bring in will end up with a bottom of the league defense if Kelly has the offense play like he is known to do.

jesus, our 30 second drives last year which was a staple of our offense was a reason why they may have worn down in the first place. i would rather have the d get worn down cuz we out there churning out touchdowns left and right

Agree. We do have a better HC, but just about anyone would be better them Tomsula, who was the joke of the century. We had one of the franchises worst years ever.

Also, Magini sucks and Kelly needs to bring in his own guy so there is a clear power structure. Mangini has been there longer so he's going to have people on the niners that are already in his corner.

I agree that bringing him back makes sense, if for no other reason than continuity. A new offense, and a new defense? One or the other is hard enough. Not to mention that Mangini has some level of knowledge of the offensive players from his time during his "crossover" as tight ends coach and offensive assistant consultant. There is something to be said for the team having a familiar face on the coaching staff at that level. the defensive players seem to be ok with Mangini in general too. I wasn't enamored of his units overall play last year, especially a couple of games where he just left a star opponent uncovered, knowing he was the opponents "go to" guy, but there aren't a lot of proven DC's out there looking for a job, LOL.

continuity was the same reasoning they used to make whats his face the head coach

Not really, his help in the whisper campaign and being Jeds buddy got Tomsula the job. You know that CC.

But name a proven coordinator out there, available, that is measurably better, and I would be happy to hear it. As I am sure would Kelly. I know you want to fire them all, but sometimes things just don't bounce that way. I am not thrilled with him but taking a chance with someone without a pedigree isn't necessarily the best option.
Can't believe Chip Kelly is keeping this chump Mangina to be DC.

Has that been confirmed?
That would suck.

No not confirmed but the rumblings are is that He likely to stay . Why don't they make a run at a Proven defensive coach like Ed Donatell?

Best move made this decade.

Anything that gets Baalke out of here sooner, I'm ok with. This re-hire should do the trick.

Not a Mangini fan, but I definitely didn't want the Philly DC. I'm ok with Chip being here, but I don't want to be Philly west.

Mangini was fine last year. His concepts just might have been a bit too tall of a task for all the kids on D. They will grow into it. He had some horrible games early on, but he made adjustments.

We did have the number 1 home D in the NFL last year, for what its worth.

At this point the continuity might be better for a young D over whoever is out there for DC.

You know the common misconception is that Kelly's offense is just balls to the wall all the time. I wasn't a fan of the hire at 1st and then I started doing some research and I am kind of warming up to him.

Did you feel like the 49ers were operating at light speeds this season? I didn't. I knew it was definitely faster than Harbaugh, but it didn't feel like a hurry up offense by any means. What if I told you the Eagles offense only snapped the ball, on average, 3.5 seconds faster than the 49ers did this season. The reason is, when defenses aren't ready they snap it quickly, and when they are ready, they make them wait in their stance so it's harder for the big unglies to catch their breath and it is also harder to anticipate the snap count.

That being said, I do think the DC job is important, but I also feel that Kelly is a high risk and high reward defense and would rather have a Rex Ryan, Todd Bowles type attacking high chance of turnovers defense, rather than a bend but don't break type defense. I guess that's one way to keep the type of possession from skewing too much.
Please, not again. No please god, no.

I'm ok with Chip Kelly to fix this crappy offense but I think we can find a better coach then Mangini.

We were gashed repeatedly all season long.
