Kinda like the cowpies did with Demarco Murray.

The RB's our HC likes are not the most difficult to find in the draft.

So you think if he was the decision maker in ATL he wouldn't have resigned freeman?

If he has a good year and gets injured then we get a re-signing discount.

The transition tag allows a team to make an offer and 49ers can match.

The top 5 RB salaries combined, divided by 5 is how you get the franchise tag price right?

Yes. It is an average of the top five salaries of the said position or a 120 percent salary increase from the previous year's salary, whichever number is greater.

The transition tag is an average of the top ten salaries of the said position or a 20 percent increase of the previous year's salary, whichever number is greater.

I think they go with Williams next year and let Hyde walk.

All depends on how Hyde does...he plays well and wants to be the top paid RB in the league well see ya later, if he wants a fair contract and likes playing for Kyle then he could stay.

I'm not putting stock into a 4th rd rookie as the future guy until he proves it. I also think he wants a running game like ATL has with Freeman and Coleman and that could be Hyde/Williams.

If he gets injured again, then he's really not worth re-signing.

Not at the 41 million dollars they just paid him.

I like Hyde, but going forward I'd rather bolster the OL talent and use the plug and play approach at RB similar to how Mike Shanny did in DEN. Draft day 3 RBs that have the skillset needed to run the scheme.

This.

You mean $22 million cause guaranteed cash is all that matters. That's still not a ton of money at all.

The 49ers have been pumping up Carlos Hyde to the media ever since Gregg Rosenthal said they might cut him. Hmm.

LMAO! Good ole Grant never lets me down.

Dude can never admit he's wrong...and what's there to pump up? The media is there watching the f**king practices, not just you grant derp lol.

He's the sports equivalent of a National Enquirer reporter.

Well it's looking like Grant Cohn was wrong about Carlos Hyde. What a surprise! Not really.

He picks a new player to create controversy every week. Someday, one will stick on the ball.

as long as you guys keep clicking his links and posting them here he's winning

Guaranteed money is not the only money he receives...what really matters in the end is cap hit imo.

It was a 5 yea 41 million dollar deal with $22 milion in guaranteed money. Looking at the deal they can't cut him for 4 years without some sort of massive cap penalty.

Looked VERY smooth and great with his feet to setup the LB.

Imagine a 1800+ scrimmage yards would be nuts.

He's gotta stay healthy to do that, but he definitely has the talent and now coaching to achieve it.

Agree

And that was my point a few pages ago.

He's in a contract year and JWilliams is hot on his heels.

If JW plays really well and CH gets injured AGAIN - the outcome will be made clearer.

WHY pay all that loot for a guy who is frequently injured

I can see this happening.

Ditto!!

Another scenario might be a trade if JW plays very well.
