They should've picked him where Brady was picked....round 6.

LOL no doubt.

However, Shanny probably reached because he is very confident. If he pans out, the reach was brilliant (let's hope so).

Can't say I'm not really disappointed. I want to give Shanny the benefit of the doubt but even if this is the guy he really wanted which I find hard to believe did he really need to be taken in the 3rd?

If he is your guy, take him. Maybe he would have been there, but if the cost to get your guy is a 5th and a 7th round pick, who cares?

Could be way worse. We could have Tomsula leading our team.

Beathard is a Winner, His only legit wr this year got hurt in week 3-4 He was throwing to freshmen. a year ago when he had weapons, Beathard was given a second round grade (Mcshay) Pro style offense. Good anticipation. accurate didn't make many mistakes (Most of his picks came from wr's dropping the ball and tipping it up in the air) wasn't afraid to chuck it deep. I like the pick, not sure why we traded tho, pretty sure he wasn't going to go before our pick tomorrow. (Altho GB has a tendency to keep their eye on the Hawkeyes players)

He seemed to take bad sacks when it mattered. Not sure if that's just inexperience or poor presence.
I guess his arm does have legitimate starter potential (maybe moreso than Peterman). He must've really impressed in the pre-draft process.
Maybe they can grab Peterman tomorrow.

damn that's cold
My favorite Beathard game came against Florida on January 2, when he was 7 for 23 for 55 yards and 3 interceptions.

I am not making this up.

Not even close. We gave up a 7th to get him and he's better right now that Matt Barkley

I'm good with it. Shanny just might draft another QB.

Not sure I understand the move up. I don't see any teams that would have gone after him.
Well, imma trust that this is a guy that Shanny has wanted to develop. What I've been reading about this kid he fits with what Shanny wants to do offensively:

Pro Football Focus - "Beathard's arm is very good, as he can make the majority of NFL throws. He is a fastball thrower, with little to no finesse in his game of being a true passer. When he is playing in rhythm and knows where to go with the ball, he delivers on time and accurately. Certain throws required to throw up and over defenders he struggles with, as he needs a clear lane to throw through. The biggest questions come with his feel in the pocket and ability to see the field clearly to consistently get through reads, as well as decision-making particularly late in the down. Beathard's arm and overall game is enough to warrant a late-round selection and a chance to develop as a third-string QB."

I think we have a kid that Shanny can take his time to develop and clean him up. He played in a pro-style system, so I think the academics of the pro game won't be a major learning curve as some of the other QB's. So, In Shanny I Trust.

And a chance to develop as a third string QB??
And you know that how? Dude, how about we give Shanny a chance to develop this kid before criticizing the pick. Look, I didn't expect this pick either. I figured we'd wait for Peterman or next season. But I get it, with a six year HC and GM contract they are gonna take the methodical approach, and I can't fault them.

Lets pump the breaks, calm down, and show a little patience. Hell, you haven't even seen the man play under Shanny's tutelage.

Well technically we gave up a 3rd to get him as well. I think he would have been there in the 4th or maybe even the 5th.
Beathard was so impressive that he threw for over 200 yards.....3 times this year....204, 204, 235 yards

We gave up one of our 4ths and 7ths to move up.
