Christian McCaffrey--Stanford

I mean... the whole point is to discuss what we would do and then see the results in the future right? I get a kick about people making a claim about a player then saying oh well "it's a crapshoot" and downplay correct evaluations of others.

Not saying that's what you're doing but it happens a lot.

How about we discuss players and when someone was right about the future production of a player... we learn about why that player succeeded instead of downplaying or boasting about a right or wrong pick?
This draft class was stacked at RB ..... like 10 current RB starters stacked .

He (arguably) got robbed of the Heisman, he had something like a THOUSAND more all-purpose yds than anyone else...but he came in 2nd to an Alabama RB, just like Gerhart to Ingram in an even closer vote.

But it's crazy how my line of thinking has changed with Shanny. There's no way in hell I'm drafting a RB before day 3 anymore. I can't do it.

Correct answer.

I love RBs, and they are a lot of fun to watch. But at the end of the day, you can always find a starter late in the draft more so than any other position.

I'm also against giving out big contracts to RBs and big FA signings for RB.

Look at the RB's that are tops in carries. If they are 6'0, they are usually at 220lbs+, not at 200lbs.

McAffrey, to be an every-down back, would need to be able to put on 15-20lbs. Right now I'd say size wise he compares to Ronnie Hillman.

Comparing McAffrey to Sproles is pretty ridiculous. McAfferey has 5-6 inches on Sproles.

I'd expect McAffrey to be drafted in the 3rd, similar to Hillman.

And this guy right here is a huge idiot.

Don't ever listen to him

I think McCaffrey is a 1st round talent. But in today's NFL and the decreased value of RBs, he may go in the 2nd.

I'm not surprised scouts question his ability to be a focal point. IMO its completely bogus, and probably due to racism (TBPH). He has 300+ touches in consecutive years in a smash mouth offense. I can't think of a direct comparison for McCaffrey because although he may check in at 200lbs (small for an NFL RB), he runs with the power and grit of a 220lbs back.

As far as whether he can be your #1 RB, I don't quite understand the meaning of that. In today's NFL, who are the RBs that are a team's #1 year in and year out? Very few. I don't think teams should judge a RB on whether he can log 200+ runs a year for 5 years. There probably only 10 RBs you can really label as a bell cow. The other 20 teams in the league use a form of committee.

I think probably the best use of him at the NFL is a guy that gets 100-200 carries a season, and 40-70 catches a season.

James White on NE is a somewhat similar build and logged 60 catches, had an excellent SB, and was drafted in the 3rd. If you were to compare McCaffrey to White, I'd definitely think McCaffrey is superior. And whats funny is if you look at NFL.com's profile on White, they call him a 7th round pick. lol!

Just goes to show that a lot of prospects, ultimately their value is dependent on how well a team can use their skill set.

With the way the NFL is going, I don't get why you wouldn't value a RB that can log 60 catches. Both NE and Atlanta heavily used RBs in their passing game, and passing to a RB is a core staple of WCO.

Okay, at least I redeemed myself some here

How is the generational back doing though?

Lmao but actually Fournette has looked really good this year. He slimmed down a lot and is starting to look comfortable in the passing game. But CM as of now is the superior player.

Damn if only Lynch had a class with him...
