2.9 ypc but still on pace for 1100 yards of scrimmage. I think he's settling as a Reggie.

Now down to 2.7 ypc and just 104 yards rushing after 6 weeks.

Jonathan Stewart has 2.9 ypc....they have issues with run blocking.

Stewart avg 3.8 YPC last season and is 30...what's McCaffreys excuse?

Same as Stewarts, the atrocious run blocking. Ryan Kalil is out, Matt has been terrible and even Turner looked bad last night.

Maybe it was turner, but one of the OL couldn't even walk, lol

I think MCaffrey looks good, even if his production isn't there.

Looks pretty good at picking up blitzers and also causing defenses to gameplan against him like the Pats did.

He nothing special in the NFL just a glorified 3rd down back. You expect more from a top 10 pick.

Offensive players taken in the 1st round not named Fournette:

Corey Davis - 73 yards
John Ross - 0 yards
Mike Williams - 0 yards
OJ Howard - 92 yards
Engram - 200 yards

McCaffrey - 460 yards

All offense across the board this year has been disappointing.

Le'Veon Bell has a 3.6 YPC

The WR and TEs are a little harder positions for rookies in the NFL. RBs the good ones generally come in and play well Hunt, Dalvin Cook (before he got hurt), Fornette,

Yes but McCaffrey never projected as a pure RB, correct? He projected as a hybrid player.

As far as his ability to RB, you have to look at the offense he plays in. If McCaffrey played for Dallas, you really think his YPC would be so low? I thought Cook was a better prospect than McCaffrey, so no argument from me on Cook vs. McCaffrey. I think a lot of Hunt's success has to do with the offense he is in as well. Spencer Ware who is nothing special was nearly a 1000 yard rusher for KC last year.

Carolina's offense and run blocking is horrible.

Carolina right now has 2 playmakers, McCaffrey and an injured Benjamin. Hell I'd say the 49ers skilled players (WR, RB, TE) is in better shape right now than Carolina.

Maybe as a #10 pick Carolina reached, but McCaffrey is clearly a good player. How good? I don't know, lets see. McCaffrey has already shown more than most 1st rounders.

One could argue you could have gotten a very similar player such as Alvin Kamara in the 3rd round or later. I have nothing against McC but just thought he was over drafted.

I don't disagree. IMO never draft a RB in 1st round unless its a generational talent. RBs are a dime a dozen, and easily found in mid-rounds.

Our football knowledges agree then.
He's on pace to beat the rookie reception record set by Boldin so he's not a total bust. Just looks to be a Reggie not a Kareem Hunt who can do it all.
McCaffrey has been on a tear since the Panthers realized how to use him. Beast.

Wish we had this dude. Would be a bigger scarier beast in Kyle's offense.
I was wrong about him.
