While I think he is a great talent, drafting Spiller would be a mistake with all the other areas that need addressed. Frank Gore will be a top 10 back for at least another 3 years. O-line is the obvious biggest need.

Ki-Jana Carter blew out his knee before he ever played a regular season game.

Tony Boselli was an amazing talent at OT. None of the OTs we are looking at compare to him. The OTs we are looking at are stopgaps who can fill in right away, not ten year all pros.

The point I think he was making was that just because Mandarich turned out to be a terrible pick with Barry waiting to be selected next, doesn't mean that running backs are better picks per se than linemen. Carter was a good example.

Not sure I agree with your comments about this year's tackles. Unless of course we insist on leaving our greatest need until 3rd round.

Did you absolutely forget about Frank Gore? Gore had more rushing yards in 06 than Bush had his first 3 years in the league. You're giving Bush WAY too much credit...

This is what gets me. Some of you would rather pass on talent in an effort to hopefully draft an OL that will HOPEFULLY improve Alex Smith's performace. What you fail to realize is that Spiller will improve the performance of any QB. So no, it is stupid to pass on talent in an effort to draft need. This has been proven time and time again.

I agree that Spiller has Washington's speed, but Spiller is more elusive and breaks more tackles.

BTW: Maybe you should stay away from Taco Bell as it seems that your butthole is not the only one on you where crap comes out.

We really could use the speed, the elusiveness, and the KR abilities that Spiller could bring. I mean, why not go for a guy that can end up being a great compliment not only to Frank Gore, but to the entire offense of the 49ers? There's a RT that will be there 4 picks later.

And imagine flexing Spiller out wide with Crabtree, VD, Gore out of the backfield, Walker, and Morgan. 6 viable options in one formation? That amount of weaponry will make it easier for Alex. Much easier.

When did the 49ers develop into the saints offense? Bush would be a complete bust if he was in a base offense. Unless the 49ers somehow completely change their offensive scheme from 2 TE to more of a spread, Spiller is going to be relegated to mostly a RP/KR.

I have no real hopes for Alex Smith being any better than what hes shown. An upgrade in the OL helps Gore first and foremost for me.

The only thing is you can't count on Gore staying healthy and handling the load himself for the whole season. Spiller provides outside speed the Niners need.
