Let's see. Bush has a ring, has contributed and is hands down a better overall playmaker than anyone on the 49ers. Mandrich has nothing. If the 49ers had Bush, they would have been a play-off team. So what are you saying?????

im glad we got vernon in that draft class as opposed to bush.
I would be happy with Spiller and an OT in the first round.

Wouldn't be mad if we drafted Spiller, but if Eric Berry and Spiller are both there at our fist pick....we've got problems!!! Personally, I'd go with Eric Berry, but that's just me!!!
I still don't understand why we have to take 2 OL with our first round picks. You draft BPA if it happens to fill a need its a bonus.

If Spiller is there at #13 I think we need to take him. Gore needs a backup that can help take the load off his shoulders. Coffee sisn't impress me much last year and even got hurt and was out for a while. Spiller brings playmaking ability to special teams and both the run and passing game on offense. Its someone that opposing teams have to gameplan against.

I'm sure alot of us wants a top tier OL. Truth is , I think the OT will be addressed in Free Agency and we draft an OT in the 3rd or later. Lets also not forget that during the season, the majority of " the zone" felt the problem with Oline was with the scheme and coaching not the players. Fact is our Oline is probably better at man blocking than zone blocking and I belive when we return to that type of blocking scheme we will see more success in running the ball.

Point is moot anyway after the combine Spiller will be a top 10 pick.
spiller/haden and a right tackle.

Where in the top 10 do you see him going exactly? He wont go top 5 just because hes a running back, so 7 to Cleveland? 9 to Buffalo? Nothing new is going to come out of Spiller from the combine. Everyone knows hes gonna kill the 40 and the cone drills.

Cleveland hardly think that will happen unless cribbs is shoped. Buffalo needs oline and Qb even a wr. I think even if spillers 40 time numbers are amazing the only person that picks him in the top ten is Al Davis.

Braddah I agree with you no doubt I would go with Berry 100%. But I dont think his thea at 13. So in the end we go Spiller #13 and best RT at #16/17.
The reason why it's Spiller is.....he's freakin AMAZING!!!

And as much as we all love Frank the Tank, dude has been injured almost every season the past 3-4 years.

Makes all the sense in the world to pick Spiller. Not only would he be a huge upgrade over Coffee as a backup, but he would bring the blazing speed this offense sorely needs, and most importantly fills in one of our biggest needs at KR/PR. And with Spiller we would be able to keep Gore fresh for the entire season.

I just hope he's there at #13.
#13 pick for a guy that's going to start 3-4 games and that means you're hoping/expecting gore to go down. He's going to be stuck pr/kr unless sing somehow turns into Sean Payton

I think that you are missing the point here my friend. How many games he starts is irrelevent. The fact that he brings badly needed play making capability to the field means that every time he is on the field he makes a differene. Tailback, scatback, WR, PR and KR...opposing teams have to account for him(which creates opportunities for others) and with his ability; even if they do account for him, on any given play it may not be enough. Let teams put 8 men in the box to stop Gore with Spiller on the field...they would quickly change that strategy as Spiller would make them pay more often than not.

He is the one player in this draft who will have the greatest impact on all aspects; offense; defense and special teams.

Reggie bush is by Not the best playmaker on the saints. He hasn't crackd 1000 yards yet in either receiving or rushing, and he is the second back. he can return punts which is great. I want the Niners should go after bush instead. No point in drafting a rb Simlar to bush who doesn't have a line to run behind.
^Yikes sorry about that response I'm writing from my phone so everything is a little choppy.

His point is how much of an impact would Spiller make as compared to a RT. It might be hard for him to be a game-breaker if he doesn't have any blocking.

Are you arguing that the new RT wouldn't make a difference? It's been a trouble-spot for 4-5 years now and all of our attempts to fix it have failed, miserably. Alex needs an offensive line so that we know what we've got at QB. Anybody watching this offense this year saw that the two main weaknesses were the offensive line and an extreme lack of creativity. If we need a quick game-breaking back, let's get Best/McNight/McCluster later on. We finally have play-makers, we don't have a quality RT.
