I can understand Brooks, Snyder and Grant as they can try to up their value but Spillman? Come on, man! Just sign. You're a ST player!

While this may fit in the rumor category, it makes sense. The first three would start on some teams and would like to get paid. Brooks certainly would. So would Snyder and he has been kind of shoved around by the 49ers. I think he would want more stability. Grant is an unknown but had a nice game against the Rams.

Spillman can be replaced by a late round rookie with speed = a Colin Jones type who would be glad to just get the paycheck.
FYI, NFL.com and CSNBayArea has the deal wrong, it is 4 additional year, not thru 2014, but thru 2015.

His base salaries for 2012-2015 are; $540K(2012), $950K(2013 and 2014) and $1.2M(2015)

This is from nflplayers website's active player search.

What I like about the signing of Boone is that it tells me the coaches are making evaluations of their roster talent and have the OL as a priority. I suspect this staff is not happy with their LT talent at this point. Everybody points at ADavis, but I think he has more upside than Staley, and I would bet the coaches believe that too.

Grant - darn, he gets to showcase his talents this weekend! He could be a starter on other teams.
Brooks - I hope we can keep him, otherwise we need another OLB. We were just getting that position settled with talent.
Snyder - We don't know how the rookies are viewed by the coaches, but we could probably easily replace him.
Spillman -- Although not well know among fans, he may be under-rated on our team. He has been excellent on ST and made a nice stop against Rice in the Goal line defense. I suspect he is on the radar with other clubs personell departments.

Might need to tag Brooks if he wont re-sign, of course if Rogers is extended 1st. Rogers should be #1 priority,

Snyder is NOT easily replaced. When he went out, our oline went to crap. I hope Kilgore can replace Snyder but it's not a sure thing. He was good friends with Baas, so I'm guessing he's hoping for one of those 25 million dollar deals.

With all the talent this team has, it's going to be expensive to keep everyone, which means some of these guys are going to walk. But I hope we keep Brooks, Snyder and Rogers. Grant and Spillman can be more easily replaced.

Exactly, IMO Rogers and Brooks are must keeps. Then it gets pricey, do we keep Grant, Spillman, how about Ginn, Morgan, Goldson, Snyder, i just dont know.

This is what I hate about having so many FAs after 1 season, 20 now after boone extension. But look at 2013 and 2014 after those yrs. Main ones are

After 2013:

Whitner
J.Smith
Goodwin
Akers
Bowman
K.Williams

After 2014:

Gore (Even though he is likely done after 2014)
Crabtree
A.Davis
Iupati
then the rooks this year like Culliver, Miller and Hunter.

We need to start getting guys extended longer who are pieces for long term.

So far signed thru 2015 and longer are;

Boone, Staley, Vernon, Willia, McDonald, and Aldon if his option is picked up.

Could easily add Rogers and Brooks there. Then also we have to worry after 2012 with Delanie and Andy Lee.

I would also add Alex and Goldson as must keeps. It's obvious why we should keep Alex, but Goldson seems to underrated by a lot of people. There would be a massive hole in the secondary if we don't find a suitable replacement.
