I'm not lying to myself. Seattle does not scare at all. Have you even watched any of Seattle's games? Tavaris Jackson sucks. He won't move the ball on our defense. Especially with us being at home I say we should take this game.

If Harbaugh is a "qb guru" or offensive genius or whatever you want to call him then he will figure out a game plan to mask the offensive lines deficiency's

Just watched the game and the QB play was just as bad as the OL play. Smith was sacked 3 times and 2 of those were on the first drive. The 3rd sack, he was late on his 2nd read as the 2nd option was wide open drag route about 8 yards deep. He got to the top of his drop, hitched, and hitched again and threw late to a wide open reciever.

Why is that Alex appeared to be more pressured than Kolin? Kaepernick also displayed some nice ability to scramble out of some pressure.

What I think? They didn't exactly practice what we saw this week and that's why the QB's didn't look like they could find anyone on rhythm.

I thought you guys wanted Alex to have more pocked presence and step up into the pocket or lack thereof and make that throw while getting hammered?

I do find this kind of amusing. Smith looked a lot like Manning did last year in a game where he was absolutely harassed relentlessly (I am only comparing the circumstances, not the players, so don't freak out folks..). Manning could not set his feet and was picked off multiple times because he was drilled as he threw and the ball sailed or was totally off the mark.

This is what happens when you don't protect. Of his six pass attempts, sure, MAYBE on one he could've tried to lob a ball to someone without his feet set and DL's hands in the air trying to bat the pass down or up into the air, but I'd actually rather him take a sack usually, than trying to make a desperate throw that ends in an INT. If you can get rid of the ball without turning it over -- good -- but don't give the defense an easy pick if you can help it.

We've obviously got to give him time to build a team and install a new offense. Especially given the limited off season and odd FA period this year.

But people can't expect him to just "coach 'em up" and for us to instantly get better. He's never been an NFL HC before, he's installing a new O, a new D and just barely able to evaluate his team at this point.

Unfortunately neither his coaching nor our offseason moves put us in a position for instant and automatic upgrades. If anything, we should expect to take a couple steps back before we move forward.

This should be thought of as a "rebuilding" year. If we can get anything more than that out of it, it's a bonus. But odds are, that until at least halfway though the season, this team will still be learning and making mistakes as he installs his offense. And by then, there is a good chance we are out of the playoff hunt and looking at a top 10 draft pick again.

Well, even after a slightly better performance in our 4th game, this still holds true.

QB rating for the preseason? 32.2 Far and away the worst in the league.

Passing yards per game? 108. Again, far and away the worst in the league.

League high 8 interceptions.

ONLY team in the league to not throw a TD pass in the preseason.


Hopefully it doesn't mean much other than that we gave a lot of playing time to a rookie QB, but it doesn't bode well. We did have our vet play some, and his stats didn't help much. And we are far from the only team that gave a lot of playing time to a rookie or very young QB, and we had by far the worst results.
