In some cases yes... But very debatable because there are down and distance involved. And also what the offense is trying to do against the defense during the game. If you are thinking about the generic run, run, pass offense with a 3rd and long as a result than -- yeah the pressure is not only on Smith but the offensive line and the receivers to convert that. But the Harbaugh's offense or any good offense, can result in a 3rd and short or 3rd and 4-5. In that situation it might come down to what the OC like to do based on what the defense is giving them. The OC can go run or pass to get that 4-5 yards.

It's easy to make a simple statement and say that Smith is terrible on 3rd downs. In part it's true, but in reality it's more involved than just him.

Well yeah, i kinda posted somethin about that last page. Theres alot that goes into a play going wrong, its alot easier to assume its the qb who messed up, im referring to passing plays on 3rd down ofcourse, but we dont really know the details. And furthermore, last season is more a of a guideline for what the team,QB included, needs to do to improve the 3rd down issue.

And historically AS maybe hasnt been good on 3rd, but that doesnt mean he cant improve.

I can guarantee i was not good at sex at first, but now im pretty sure i could be a porn star,if i was just a few inches longer.... just sayin

AS is the QB of the team. He is not Tom Brady, but he isn't David Carr either. He is a guy who seemed to put some stuff together last year, and shows the ability to improve. His coach backs him, some posters back him, and I will back him. Doesn't mean I cant knock him when he messes up either.

Just bring forth your real criticisms, and let it ride when someone responds directly to the character of your posts, because you dont want to dig a deep hole for yourself, this can be a fun forum to be a part of man.

Im not coming at you for doing anything specific either, just dont want you to get tripped up by making people around here mad, then they wont be as likely to listen when you have serious critiques or compliments of his play.

And likely, when someone responds to your post with a one liner like " yeah but whats his 3rd down ratio..lulz...." ppl usaully arent trying to have a convo with you, so dont be that guy either

Johnson will come for a cheap price. Has a lot of upside, but can be cut if anything goes wrong. A 1 year contract won't hurt.
