Is this guy really that good??? I remember hearing his name a few times against the Niners in the past, but I guess i was paying too much attention to our players. I want to know what you guys think his potential worth is?

Don't expect anything too much. Role player, might have a couple sacks, like 5 or something.
everytime he gets a sack I'm going to say: holla at yaboy!

Nor has Manny or Brooks

Parys had, what 8.5, in his contract year.

People complained about Justin Smith's sack numbers but he finally got the recognition he deserved last year with his Pro Bowl and that fancy number thingy showing he was the #1 3-4 DE

Before his injury he was pretty good. Quick first step, fast off the edge, and pretty powerful for his size. Don't recall seeing him in pass coverage, so no idea how he would do in space. It'll really be up to Manusky and defensive schemes to get the most out of him...it would sure help if the Niner defense forces lots of 2nd/3rd and longs. Someone will also need to step up and play well alongside Smith on the interior line on passing downs...LaBoy's speed and moves would really come into play if the QB can't just step up into the pocket to avoid the rush.

Definitely looking forward to TC and the preseason!
Should be a good pickup if he is healthy. The Dolphins and Patriots probably wouldn't want him if he wasn't any good. He's only 28, has had 3.5 sacks twice, 6, 6.5 and 4 in 08. Not bad considering in 67 games and only started 32 of them. 23.5 sacks in 32 starts is good. Not a whole lot of tackles but seems more like a pass rush specialist. Should be added depth to the OLB rotation so probably no Morgan/Graham/Kindle/Hughes.

Did he play OLB for the Cards in the 3-4?

If healthy he is our most proven and consistent pass rusher on the team with .35 sacks a game. That isn't great, to put it in perspective Peppers is a .66 sacks a game guy. He is an instant upgrade on our team and should push the others to be better as well. Lets hope he can stay healthy which has been a problem for him.

Laboy - .35
Haralson - .28
Lawson - .25
Brooks -.3

Certainly would be a better situational pass-rusher than Tully "Spin Cycle" Banta-Cain!!!!

I can has notoriety still on Ninertalk
ST guy
I like it...given he's coming off an injury, a 1-yr contract is appropriate. If he does well, they sign him to a longer term contract...he's got arguably 5 good years ahead of him if he stays reasonably healthy. Could spell the end of Manny...I'm thinking Briggs, Haralson, Brooks and now LaBoy in the pass rush rotation. Might help pave the way for Brandon Spikes as Takeo's eventual replacement...understand they think McKillop's better suited for the Mike than Ted. Re-signing Wilhelm was key...it'll give whomever they draft time to understudy.
