To Foerster's credit, Staley, Sims and Heitmann played fairly well. With the change at QB, the OL's play improved as well.
We keep seeing threads on here that calls for the replacement of Baas, Rachal, Snyder, and the change of position for Staley.
Is it really the fault of Foerster for poor talent and scheme-change mid-season? No one has answered that question yet in this thread. Another reactionary emotional thread in Niner Talk.

Well, we all agree there is a problem. None of us are qualified or in a position to make a judgement as to whether it is the coach or the players, or the gameplay, or the whole lot. The customary way in the NFL is to fire the position coach.
I hope Singletary isn't going to allow loyalty to get in the way of common sense.

First of all....nowhere Forester has gone has he improved the line play.
Second of all....the line did not improve once the quarterback change was made. Smith was still running for his life, the o-line was still unable to keep d-linemen from getting their hands up on passing plays, the o-lien was getting manhandled by inferior teams such as Detroit and St. Louis etc etc. The line played like s**t from beginning to end.
Poor talent? We have one first rounder, 2 second rounders, and a 3rd rounder on the line. That is hardly poor talent.
How is it that teams like Atlanta are able to take a horrible line and with one coaching change turn it into a very strong unit? How is it that New Orleans can take an UDFA and replace their probowl left tackle lost to injury and suffer little effects from it? What about Arizona? Grimm's done a pretty good job on a previously abysmal line I'd say.
Coaching makes a big big difference. Forester has done a horrible job teaching fundamantal line play and no lineman has significantly improved under his watch. McC has to take part of the blame but at a certain point coaching has to help out as well.
