Could the San Francisco 49ers reunite with a former locker room favorite? NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport believes San Francisco "makes sense" as a potential trade destination for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who spent his first six NFL seasons (he did not play as a rookie) with the 49ers before signing with Minnesota this past offseason.
"You're going to see a lot of trade conversations now kind of going on around the league," Rapoport said Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show. "Some teams are hitting byes, some teams maybe need a little more.
"I would say a name that I've been wondering about is Jauan Jennings. So he's with the Minnesota Vikings, had like two catches. Obviously, came over from the 49ers. I expect his name to heat up a little bit over the next, probably, couple of days and weeks."

So far, Jennings' tenure in Minnesota hasn't gone as either side might have hoped. The wide receiver has just two catches for nine yards on five targets through four games after missing Week 2 for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, the 49ers have dealt with injuries throughout the season, significantly thinning their wide receiver depth. Deebo Samuel is the latest casualty, with a hamstring injury expected to sideline him for multiple weeks.
"And obviously, the 49ers lost Deebo for a couple of weeks, too, so they make sense," Rapoport said when discussing potential landing spots for Jennings. "That would be a name for me to keep an eye on over the next little bit. Like, those are the kinds of trades we'll see, I think."
As for Samuel's injury, Rapoport expects the veteran wide receiver to return sometime after San Francisco's bye week.
"I was told out two weeks, likely," Rapoport said. "And then, they have the bye, so he'll probably be re-evaluated after the bye. I do not believe that he's headed to IR, so the hope is he can come back within that four-game, but five-week window."
In his final two seasons with the 49ers, Jennings recorded 132 catches for 1,618 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
