not the point you at least try to get the first u dnt just give up and give them the win. we blew it that last drive with out playcalling plain and simple man.

And if Hills threw a pick you guys would be all over Raye regardless. Straight hatin!

no thats the play you make to win ask any winning head coach and they would have thrown for the first thats how u win close games. you can win if you dnt try to win.

A team that has a s**tty defense would throw it on 3rd down. Ask any GOOD coach in the league.
no a coach who want to win and be agressive would like the pats or colts or any other top notch team. you play to win like edwards said. you dont sit there and give them a chance you go for the kill when its there.

BS man. You don;t go for no f**king kill when you have a 4 point lead, with 1 minute left, with a defense that has pitched a shutout the entire second half. You protect the ball and put the defense back on the field when they have playing that well for the prior 29 minutes, ESPECIALLY with a 4 point lead. (the other team needing a TD to win).

I'd agree with that if it were any other QB other than Favre. That f**king gray-haired hillbilly still found a way to stick to the Nines.

This loss hurts - the game was within reach, just one first down.

On a separate note, not that I am blaming the refs in anyway for the outcome of this game, but there were some bad calls in this game.
If Manny had been one step faster he would have had the sack! Oh well!

If you think giving Brett Favre the ball on the 20 with over a minute and playing prevent is the answer.....then i guess you just got proven wrong.

Your out to lunch on this one pal. I will explain why: If you think the offense can all of a sudden, convert a third down after having failed to convert what 90% of the opportunities prior, your out to lunch. Would you not agree that it is reasonable to expect an offense that has only converted 5% of it's first down opportunities to essentially have about a 5% chance of making it? So you would have a bout a 5% chance, in a passing situation, backed up in their terroority, against a team that has been harassing the s**t of your QB all day, agaisnt a team that is desperate to get their hands on that ball, make a big ass turnover, at all costs. You don't fed the beast that has been eating you all day.....that would be third conversions, in our case. You feed the beat that has been eating the other team, and that would be our defense.

obviously you aren't understanding me.

give hill the opportunity to rollout off of a playaction. if there isnt any reciever cleary open, he can take a sack and it would have been the same as what we did, which is burn their timeout.

it's really not that hard.

Exactly, the offense had gone 0-10 on third down conversions, what are the odds they are going to convert THAT particular one. You play smart football and you let your defense win you the game. It just so happened that Mark Roman was being an idiot like usual and they won on a ridiculous touchdown pass that's going to happen one time out of a million.

Not when you are playing Farv. He is at his best when the game is on the line. You can't play scared. Running the balll when everybody watching (and playing) knows your going to run it is stupid and doesn't work most of the time.
4th qtr stats for Shaun Hill today:

5 of 5 including a 20 yard td pass.

When the game was on the line (one first down and the game would have been over) the Niners opted to hand the ball three times to a rookie rb facing the #1 defense in the NFL.

Disgusting!!

There are ENTIRELY too many variables. What if someone rips the ball loose when they sack him? What if he tries to throw it away and it gets picked? What if someone blows through the line on the weak side and he doesn't see it coming?

The defense is this team's strong point. Why in the world wouldn't you let them win the game for you? I'm sorry but no one was confident today with the offense converting a third down. Taking a chance like that and something bad happening is much more likely.

Now your advocating for Hill to take a sack, if needed? Ummm, that's not a good idea, bad things happen when QB's take sacks. The correct thing to do is to not put the QB in a situation where he may take a sack....EVER.

Favre is almost 40 years old. Who gives a s**t who's back there? That touchdown has a one in a million chance of ever happening ever again. No one was playing scared, they weren't going to take chances. They'd rather rely on their defense, which was the smart thing to do.
