Could anyone explain to me why that one pass before the end was incomplete? I mean the receiver got the ball in his hands and it seems like he had control over it long enough to be a TD, didnt he?

Player must maintain control of the ball long enough, to enable him to perform any act common to the game (i.e., maintaining control long enough to pitch it, pass it, advance with it, or avoid or ward off an opponent, etc.). Evans didnt do that.
