Head Coach options for the 49ers in 2011: Who do you like and why?

What about Mike Mularkey, hes seemed to do a fine job with that Atlanta offense. His first year with the Falcons they ranked #6 in total offense, #10 in scoring. In his second year #16 in total offense, #13 in scoring. Right now the Falcons are ranked #9 in total offense and #11 in scoring. Sure having Matt Ryan has helped, but I think we should look at how hes called plays and used personnel in games. Lets also look at the fact that he was drafted by the 9ers!!!

Very Bright Offensive coach , good leader, seems like he has the balls to be a HC
Has worked with Manusky in the past, which would ease the transition and not mess
up the D', Maybe bring Dad along to help
He's an east coast guy though, may not want to move

I'd also be happy with Gruden

Harbaugh aint going anywhere, Him and Luck can do some special things over the next year or two, I bet they both stay at Stanford

Houston was a top 5 offense last year with Kyle Shannahan, but Dennison has worked under Shanny for quite some time (most of his experience is as a OL coach running a ZBS minus last year under McDaniels). This is his first year ever calling plays I believe.

I think at the very least the smart thing to do would be to interview a good number of candidates. IMO some guys worthy of at least an interview would be :

-Tom Clements (current QB's coach for the Packers)
-Pete Carmichael Jr (current OC for the Saints)
-Jeremy Bates (current OC for the Seahawks)
-Ken Zampese (current QB's coach for the Bengals)
-David Lee (current QB's coach for the Dolphins)
-Joe Philbin (current OC for the Packers)

+ Leslie Frazier (current DC for the Vikes).

Um I don't want another "power running" HC. That game-plan does not work in the NFL anymore its becoming more and more off a balanced/passing league.

I like Gruden bring back the WCO. Maybe trade for Kolb, he knows the WCO, or sign a FA. Draft one of the top QBs. Gore IMO would excel in the WCO he is very underrated ass a pass catcher. Crabs is our possession WR who does great with slant routes. We have a speedy TE.

Jim Caldwell

+ Raheem Morris went from coaching DB's to HC (was promoted to DC but a couple weeks later to HC) & John Harbaugh went from coaching DB's & ST's to HC.

I started the Pat Shurmur bandwagon when we were looking for an OC, but the 49ers eventually hired Jimmy Raye! But I'm not sure he's ready to be a head coach?
