Taylor Mays traded to the Bengals

Bengals fans are under the impression its for a 4th rounder, supposedly... no legit sources cited yet so who knows

but I did find some Cincy beat writers blogs that had this

Last March, the Dayton Daily News reported Cincy was considering using the 21st pick on him.

Dolphins, Bears, Seahawks, Cardinals also showed interest in Taylor Mays per source. MIA and CHI presented offers. Goes to Bengals for pick.

Yes. I was bracing to be ready to hear it was a 6th, but expecting a 5th.

well that was a waste of a jersey. good thing i got it as a gift.

I was expecting a 5th or worse. If it is a 4th that will be easier to live with. Thank You Mike Singletary...smh!

A) tracked that source of the 4th round rumor down to a poster on 49ers.com who said he talked to his buddy inside the organization... so it could be complete BS. However, the fact there were 5 inquiries and 3 offers means we probably got a 5th or better IMO. But again so far the only facts reporters have published are who offered, not what they offered.

B) Any draft pick for a player who was about to be cut is a win in my book. These coaches had no ties to him, if he didnt fit then ship him out.

so after thinking about it I believe Balkee actually did a smart thing in emailing out he was on the trading block, gets the teams thinking and if they really want him they would start a little bidding war. Also it shows that Mays does not fit in our plans and even if he might be cut a lesser team like the bengals would have a harder time attracting him as a FA without overpaying. So I say bravo to Balkee on going outside the box.


If the reports of a 4th is true thats pretty good for our 3rd string safety and if it does turn into a 3rd that will be a solid pick cause you know the bengals are gunna SUCK this year
