LieutKaffee's evolving mock (updated 4/2)

Bolded transactions confirmed

Lose: Sopoaga, RJF, Goldson, Walker, Ginn, Moss, Grant, Gooden, L. Davis
FA: Glenn Dorsey, Nmamdi Asomugha, Phil Dawson, Marlon Moore, Dan Skuta, Craig Dahl
Trade acquisitions: Boldin, McCoy

**Draft trade: 2(34) + 3(93) to Minnesota for 1(25) - Based on current projections, it's hard to see Datone Jones making it past the late 20s.
**Draft trade: 4(128) + 5(157) + 7(237) to Kansas City for 4(99) - Use a couple of our extra picks to get one last pick in the late-3rd (top of 4th) sweet spot.

1(25) - Datone Jones, DE - Tenacious pass-rusher to provide DL depth and gradually fill in for Justin Smith. Our DL needs another blue chipper.
1(31) - John Cyprien, S - Best player available and all-around S prospect, 2013 FS starter and eventual Whitner replacement/upgrade.
2(61) - DJ Hayden, CB - Fast cover corner to add to our stable of talent; question marks surrounding Rogers, Brown, Culliver.
3(74) - David Amerson, CB/FS - A hybrid ball-hawk who could play a single-high zone or drop in and press larger WRs. Groomed as FS.
4(99) - Travis Kelce, TE - We need a second TE and Kelce is a well-rounded prospect with upside that draws Gronk comparisons.
4(131) - Reid Fragel, OT - Former TE like Staley, fills big need as versatile backup OT.
6(173) - Tyrone Goard, WR - A WR with good size and speed who can provide depth and upside.
6(180) - Quanterus Smith, DE/OLB - A late-round natural pass rusher with injury concerns
7(246) - Steve Beauharnais, ILB - Looks like it's time to turn the page on Grant and Gooden and have Skuta and a rookie at backup ILB.
7(252) - Dustin Hopkins, K - Because Dawson is old. Could always wait a year, but it would be nice to have a young K waiting the wings.

EDIT: I bit the bullet and added Reed as a FA pickup. I'm torn about it, but I think it will happen. Rambo is groomed a year.

Where did we get Zack Ertz come from
am i confused, or where is ertz then coming from?
Ertz fixed.
Anyone have ideas on Delanie replacements in Round 6 if we lose him? The names Kyle Juszczyk, Mychal Rivera, and Chris Gragg are coming up when I google H-back prospects. Thoughts?

A free agent we should go after Arthur Jones DE/DT frm ravens they original tendered him so I think if we sign him its only a 5th round pick

Frankly I don't know the rest of the NFL well enough to come up with Baalke-like diamonds in the rough. Maybe your Jones is a good option. I went with FAs that seem likely based on current reports.

I like M Hunter better.

He was tendered for the 2nd round.
Rogers only saves us like 1mil by being cut last I heard and Delanie is going to cost more than we can afford...other than that I wouldnt complain if this was our offseason haul. Not keeping Delainie you might need to find a special teams demon/ stub blocker TE to fill those shoes...probably in the later rounds.

I like it, except for the Colin Klein idea.

I hope we pick up the Honey Badger. Someone's gonna have to lock down Percy Harvin.
After the Dorsey signing I'm going with Ertz second for now.
Is Mathieu entering as a CB? I haven't paid much attention to him. I thought he would actually come in as a safety for some reason.

2b - Da'Rick Rogers, WR
3a - Bacarri Rambo, FS
3b - Tyrann Mathieu, CB

What?

Baalke does not specialize in drafting big name head cases.
