Agree, although - having a shut down number one stifling defense that never let the score get out of hand, so Joe never was behind by more than a touchdown in the four Superbowls - helped (i think) in him not throw risky passes that might turn into interceptions.

Joe also had a rough time againt the Cowboys in the NFC title game before he threw that pass to Clark. He was sacked 3 times and threw 3 INTs. One of his best traits was his ability toget off the canvas and still manage to win. I remember that 1989 game he had against the Eagles when he was pulverized in the first half and came back with 4 TD passes in the 4th quarter. I was screaming so loud that my neighbors could hear me across the street.

Let's say the titans put him on the trade block. Dexter Lawrence just went for a top 10 pick you willing to trade 2 1sts for Simmons? We are in a championship window but that's steep. We don't need an all pro DT we just need a solid run stopping NT. You don't see players get a new contract and traded the same season but Vita Vea is exactly what we need

I doubt Ronnie Lott would be able to keep from getting suspended in today's game. The hits he layed on WRs would draw a flag and get him ejected now. Going back even further the Niners had a LB named Hardy Brown in the 1950s. He was famous for knocking guys out with his forearm shiver. I think he knocked 2 players out cold against the Packers one year. It's just a different game now.

Steve needed 10 pro bowlers to finally get past Dallas. Joe was better with less and more.

Joe had his Cowboys/Packers, too. They were called the New York Giants. He lost to the Giants in the playoffs three times (1985, 1986, 1990).

That something about Joe is what all great players have. It's not something you can measure but it sets them apart from other good players.

I am 61 and saw both play. I have to give it to Joe and I agree wiht LT. Joe is the GOAT. I LOVE Steve and enjoyed his play and glad we had him after Joe. But Joe, he won 4 Lombardi's, and yes, its a team game, but those 80's team were dominant on both sides. They won because they had an outstanding defensive players that could hold opponents, they had outstanding offensive players that could make the plays consistently and they had Bill Walsh. Walsh knew football and we have to give credit to Eddie D. He was willing to do whatever it took to keep the talent. Different game today and I would say, and some will disagree, I am so grateful we have Shanahan because he is one of it not the top coach of our current era because he wins even when everything is stacked against him ie injuries, schedule etc. He uses the talent he has and makes sure he and his staff are ready to play.

Montana before the back issues caused regression before he went to KC. Steve Young was a freak though. More athletic and threw dimes on the run. I still remember the time at candlestick when slipped in his drop back, got up and threw a dot to TO for the game winner

One of the main reasons Kyle went and drafted Trey was Jimmy's durability issues, not so much his QB skills. Brock's a lot better than Jimmy in the QB skill area.

One of the reasons Brock is not considered top five in a lot of non-49er fans eyes is that he's never *won* a Superbowl. One of the reasons Joe is considered legendary is because he won four 🏆's.

So win/loss percentage is a valid guage of a QB's skills, especially at the highest levels of competition.

He had the ability to slow the game down in high pressure moments. The moment never got too big for him. Remember the famous quote from him during the drive that won the Superbowl in the last seconds... (strolling down memory lane) ...

I like both teams, unlike KC, which I cannot stand. Allen is a Niners fan too, I think, so that would be cool to have him play against us.

I also think it's Purdy or Allen for MVP this year.

We owned the Bengals under Joe, the way Mahomes owns us in Superbowls, unfortunately. Still, I think Purdy is closer to Joe in cerebral style of play and accuracy, but I have to say Purdy's escapabilities remind me a lot of Steve.

Would Kyle choose Purdy or Allen if he had the chance? Considering Kyle Drafted Kurtis, who in my eyes, is a bit of a lesser Fernando Mendoza clone - I'd say Kyle would choose Allen. Also, Mac Jones reminds me a bit of Kyle's preferred QB stereotype. A big immobile pocket passer that will stand in the pocket and deliver the pass.

I say this because Kyle drafted a very Allen like player in Trey Lance year before Brock, and I think John was more instrumental in getting Brock than Kyle. Kyle, I think, still likes that accurate but immobile passer. Although Kurtis showed a lot of mobility for a big man in preseason and he plays a lot like Fernando Mendoza.

John liked Mahomes, so I think John would choose Purdy (versus Allen).
