College Football 2016

I won't be able to watch much today because it's the wife's bday and we're going out after work but I'm a geek, I'd watch a bunch of these games if I could: UNC-SC, FIU-UCF, OkSt-CMU, WKU-Vandy, Michigan-Utah of course, TCU-Minn, UTSA-Arizona (mostly to scout 'Zona), and CU-Hawaii.

Agreed, there are a lot of variables that go into developing a great QB... Steve Young mentioned it too, about his time in Tampa & sitting behind Joe. Crazy to think if Steve had remained in Tampa we might not remember him in the same light as we do today.

I've got the OK-St v CMU game too, I'll probably skip that one as I have the other two + 9ers v Chargers (Same time as the TCU game, thank you GamePass ) & I may check out some other final preseason games on-demand.

It is good to see you have your priorities straight.. Enjoy the night out with the Mrs!

Cool, I'm not ruling out perhaps falling for one specific team it just hasn't happened yet & I kinda like it that way. Miami was a powerhouse in the early 2000's, hopefully they make it back to prominence! (The Raiders of CFB) (Did you insist the 9ers draft some kid named Rodgers from out of Cal?)

It takes you a while to wrap your head around CFB if you aren't from the States, we are used to International representative teams being the highest honour... So everything below is seen as a lesser standard competition which makes you naturally inclined to watch Pro over College... It's not really until you understand the Top 25, Power 5 Conferences that you figure out where the higher level of competition is & what games to watch.

The standard of CFB is actually pretty damn high & the intensity is amazing for collegiate amateur athletes (Crowds/Atmosphere/TV Production-Coverage/Money/Ratings,etc). We don't have anything of equivalent standard down here for guys who are not fully paid pros.
What makes it even more intriguing is that Cincinnati and Boise State are consistently better than 1/2-3/4 of P5 programs.

Very true! BYU & Notre Dame make a strong argument as well... (Although is Notre Dame officially in the ACC now or just aligned & remains independent?)
Louisville until they recently joined the ACC from the Big East were another big-time contender from outside the P5... The landscape of CFB is constantly in flux so I wouldn't be surprised if some of those teams ended up in the P5.

Tar Heels U blew it...
Trevone Boykin picking up where he left off from last season.

Independent in Football, ACC every other sport I believe.
Nice sack/strip by TCU, and then Trevone Boykin to Josh Doctson for a TD, TCU up 10-0 on Minnesota.

TCU hang on for a narrow victory... Lol, I said they look like a well oiled machine earlier, they were for the 1st quarter at least... After that the game was a slopfest, deep passes bouncing off the turf all night. Poor clock management at the end by the Gophers as well.
