GSP could have been up there also, but his personal issues over the last few years and not fighting while at his prime tarnished it also.

Cain has the talent to be on this list - most talented heavy weight of all time. But injuries from his crazy training sessions has cut this short.

Bones Jones someday maybe...but he's tested positive for drugs. At least it's not steroids.

I want to pick BJ Penn. He is so talented, not just in the octagon, but world martial arts tourneys. Won at different weights, amazing ability. But the knock for me is his laziness. He was amazing, then get lazy, then get amazing, repeat.

If Silva doesn't get caught cheating, I think it's a no Brainer. All the above makes it hard to choose.

You're gonna discredit Bones for a line of coke?

No, but I am a believer of a guy who f**ks up, f**ks up. Who knows what else he is taking. But the main thing is he is too young to be on the list.

Jones could retire today and have already established himself among the greats.
Dan Henderson isint in the discussion because he was never UFC champion. Unfortunately for him Silva dominated the middleweight division. But damn, hendo was a beast. one of the few fighters in the history of the sport that had terrific wrestling and knockout power. Johnny Hendricks kind of reminds me of hendo, but not as good. if this was greatest mma fighter of all-time you can make a stronger case for hendo, but his ufc career alone can't establish him as the greatest among Silva, GSP, Jones, Couture, etc...

My Top 9 in MMA History:
1) Silva
2) Fedor
3) GSP
4) Jones
5) Liddell
6) Hendo
7) BJ
8) Couture
9) Hughes

My Top 9 in UFC History:
1) Silva
2) GSP
3) Jones
4) Couture
5) BJ
6) Hughes
7) Liddell
8) Tito
9) Gracie

Honorable mention: Aldo, Cain, Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Wanderlei, Nogueira, Rutten, Cro Cop, Belfort, and many others

From an MMA perspective, where do you guys think Fedor ranks all-time with these UFC fighters?
It's such a shame we never got to see him fight in the UFC.
He claims Dana was disrespectful and stubborn in negotiations.

Fedor was the original GOAT/OG. He basically went a decade without being beaten and in an organization that at the time had the best talent above 170 and also beat a couple former UFC champs before age and motivation caught up to him.

IMHO talent wise, if all were in their prime the top 3 HWs would be Cain>Fedor>JDS. The UFC HW division talent pool has always been pathetic, even right now its Cain & JDS then everyone else with Miocic probably a distant 3rd.

Agree 100%

It's hard to say who would win between Cain and Fedor

Dos Santos without a doubt is the 3rd greatest HW behind those 2, had it not been for Cain, he would have been a champion that dominated the Heavyweight division for years. Unfortunately for him Cain had his number, but he is the only person to ever defeat Cain, so he has that for his legacy, he helped Cain become the champ he is today. Can't weight for the fight against Werdum, think Cain will dominate. I hate the whole concept of an "interim" title. Bet Cain is getting annoyed of watching Werdum walk around with that belt everywhere.

Sad thing about JDS is that its hard to see his chin lasting much longer with the punishment he has been taking in his recent fights.

True, but he's still always in title contention. If Cain beats Werdum, we might see him fight JDS again. Anything can happen when those 2 clash

I'm surprised no one mentioned Randy Couture. Not my personal favorite, but an argument could definitely be made for him. And BJ Penn.

This. Randy held multiple titles in multiple weight classes and came back at age 43, won the HW title and kicked some major ass. He was actually manhandling Lesnar until he got caught with that over hand right behind the ear. Not to mention the guys career has spanned the inception of the sport all the way to where it is now.

Don't think the ACL mattered much tbph.. JDS is an amazing striker and Cain got caught behind the ear in their first fight, it happens (i.e.: GSP vs Serra). Its not a knock on him at all, he has proven he is better with two very brutal beatdowns that likely to some years of JDS's granite chin.

i think it did. its a game (or fight) of inches and when your mobility is limited that could be the differnce between clipped behind the ear or slipping the punch entirely.
