For those the don't see it yet, we just committed to a year and half of a major rebuild. See you in 2027.

By then Trent and CMC likely gone and dimished. Warner and Bosa would finally be fully healthy and back. Maybe. Juice, gone. Kittle? He's already always hurt. Jennings, gone. Aiyuk? Who knows.

Entering the new era with new faces!

Only guy I kinda wanted was Johnson because he's young and would have been part of that movement…not for a 2nd though.

We got a lot of young guys that have talent and can take it to the next level in the upcoming years.

wow, people need to relax a lttle bit,... yeah, sure the team could have been improved but there were indeed very few players able to do it,...

IMHO the following were the only ones who could have improved the current team:

- Trey Hendrikson. No doubt he would automatically improve the DL but he could only have been a half season rental, the team doesn't have the cap space to have another star in the books (they have already the most stars, with their high salaries, in the whole NFL),... it's not possible to include another star's salary
And to pay a 2026 first round (which is what they were asking for) for one half-season rental is simply insane

- Quinnen Williams. Like the case above, he would improve the DL, no doubt. And like the case above the team has no cap space for another star's salary,... they simply don't have it
In this case there would be some other things against trading for him,... he's contracted through 2027 but the guaranteed money the next 2 years is just $5M which implies a sure hold-out next off-season if they don't improve his contract,.... I don't think the 49ers can afford the current contract, let alone an improved one (for the player).
I don't think that paying a 2026-2nd and a 2027-first to have a player holding out the next offseason it's a smart thing to do right now,... and at the end of the day the 49ers would crash against the same wall,... they don't have cap room for another star's salary

- T'Vondre Sweat. I was seeing this trade as one far more reasonable than that of QW,... rookie contract, 2 more years apart from this one,... and much cheaper trade,... but Idk what would have been his price and no one has trade for him

- Minkah Fitzpatrick. I was also seeing this one as improving the team,... we need a FS good in coverage,... but as cheap as his salary is for this year, next season he's owned some $16M,... which goes against how this team has been structured,... I doubt very very much that they would pay this salary to this or any other safety

there were also JJ-II and Phillips,... who I'm not sure they would improve the team,... but one thing is sure, both have been lately plagued with injuries,... and the asking price was IMO too high (a 2nd and a 3rd repectively)

So, I really wanted to trade for someone who could improve the team this year,... this season's competition is as open as it could possibly be and the SB will be at home but it has not been possible,... well, we have White who I think is a good acquisition and will help the team,...
but the most important, I still think the team can aspire to everything,... they just need the injured players back, which is going to happen soon (obviously, except those out for the season),... and win this sunday,... which is crucial

We have close to 40 mil in cap space next year. We could have EASILY fit in a player or two.

Standing pat was the right move.

f**k no it wasn't. Go tell that to the players that because Bosa tore his ACL the season is over. 9ers have won what 4 games without him. Two games without Warner.

That's f**kin absurd to say the season is over despite the 49ers winning without their star players. This team is busting their asses off trying to win, John Lynch owed it to them to get some help.

Like I said those that are here for next year, please leave I'll see you next year.

Doesn't matter, we weren't getting past the cowDung in the playoffs anyways

This is what really pisses me off about the QW trade.

Dallas' season ended last night. They're 3-5-1 and need to finish 7-1 to even make the playoffs and that's not happening. Yet they were buyers anyway.

But we're supposed to stand pat at 6-3?? Why???

After I just made fun of them... I'll be more pissed if they start winning games or end up a wildcard
I think people are also forgetting that York mandated less spending after the last few years…

Yetur is out for the season, Aiyuk is not guaranteed to come back. Cowing I could give two s**ts if he came back. Purdy I'm not holding my breath. Pearsall's PCL whatever.

Sterling Bennett is a f**kin Homer!!

I'm not holding my breath either, and if Pear, BA and BP actually come back at anytime and help Niners win games then I'll be very glad. But I'm not expecting anything anymore

His soccer team and Glory Hole Parties are taking a chunk out of his wallet
Totally agree with you, this is on Jed York. The York's are not investing into the team anymore. The organization will have to do it within this model of ensuring the draft builds this team. That scares me because I don't trust Shanahan and Lynch's draft picking. Yes, we are moving into a rebuilding not a retooling . . . and to me that is not a two year process, it's a 3 year process, not 2027 but 2028 is when they'll be back and only IF they nail the draft.
So much whining. Here's the deal:

Chances of us winning the SB this year considering current state of roster: Insert whatever percentage you think
Chances of us winning the SB this year considering current state of roster + Trey Hendrickson or perhaps Maxx Crosby: Add 2.5% to your number above

Pretty much this. as if Jermaine Johnson is the key to winning the superbowl with our critically depleted roster.

The b***hing and whining and crying in this thread is hilarious. Also slightly surprised at how many people don't understand how the salary cap works.

I was saying this about Hendrickson but also that's really only an argument for not adding Hendrickson without an extension. We still could've made a trade for 2026 and beyond like Dallas did. Dallas' season ended on Monday night ffs!

Crosby is signed well beyond this season so your logic doesn't apply to him at all.

Looking at some of the kneejerk reactions yesterday.. Some of you guys are so dramatic. 😂

There wasn't anyone left worth giving up what the cost was at this point. We don't have any picks now after the 4th round either..

Oh look its the blame Jed York crew. Lets just ignore all of the huge contracts and money spent the last few years and whine about not making any moves on the last day of the trade deadline.

I swear they should have waited to announce the Keion White trade until yesterday. Would have cut down on the complaining 50%

I think the point with JJ is he's not a band-aid rental, he's a young DE with another yr of contractual agreement. It's pointing out who they usually take on day 3 and overall it's been a disaster.

The cap space wouldn't have been an issue there either….that said a 2nd rd pick is a lot (fine with not moving it), but overall they've been pretty bad drafting there

The whining posters are in fine form today. And the "let's blame Jed York" crew don't have a clue.

Jermaine Johnson is in no way worth a 2nd (though would have been a nice addition).

Niners will roll with what they have left this year, and that includes some good talent returning. On D, there's no replacing losses like Bosa & Warner. Hopefully, some of the other guys will step up such as Bethune (he already is) and some of the rookies such as Collins. The pass rush should be better with the return of Huff and the addition of White. Add in Ferrell for the DL, who the team knows well and who just jumped right in last game and made an impact, and YGM + West when they get healthy and let's roll.

Also, injuries can and will happen at any given point to other good teams, unfortunately, as the season progresses. Just gotta hope for better fortunes in this area for the Niners going forward as they've had more than their share already.

And in the end of whatever percentage you add, it's still an assumption. Regardless of the injuries the 9ers have the fact of the matter is the 9ers are winning in spite of the injuries. And if the 9ers are winning why wouldn't you add to that and KEEP winning or improve your chances of winning?
