Jacob Cowing was really good in pre-season and then week one he was behind Ronnie Bell on the depth chart for whatever reason. So yeah I hope Watkins is a steal but he's probably gonna be WR4 at best to start the season.

MADE you realize how bad of a HC Shanny by keeping the better player on the bench because he liked Bell more.... well, until he dropped that perfectly thrown pass..

He's definitely gonna be someone to watch in Preseason.

It's not that simple. As bad as Bell was - Cowing wasn't really ready last year
He committed a number of penalties and errors when he was on the field and had real trouble staying on his feet
Sounds like he's much more ready in Year 2.

Even Ayuik showed promise in his first year but didn't shine until his removal from the Dog House in his second year. It's hard to tell sometimes when rookies flare out and then come out in their 2nd year. TO was good in his first year but took off in his second. Hopefully that's the case this year.

Doesn't look like he breaks tackles to often
Watkins is listed at 5-11 196. I'm not sure breaking tackles is going to be a big part of his game ( at least until he is able to add some additional muscle). Hopefully he's strong enough to disengage from press coverage, but he's probably going to make his impact as a separator.

the only reason Bell even made the 53 last year was because of Aiyuk's holdout. Cowing missed much of TC last year due to injury too.
your agenda just shows youre ill informed.

KS definitely had a hard on for Bell. You're blind if you think otherwise.

Cowing didn't even know where to lineup, Pearsall ended up running an end around that was supposed to be for Cowing because he lined up wrong.
Maybe KS will replace Bell with Cowing this year, if that's important to you .

ehhh. the team had to keep 7 WRs during final cuts last season.
BA
Deebo
JJ
Pearsall
Cowing
Conley
were the 6 making the team. Bell was insurance for BA's holdout and keeping him likely cost the team OT Jarrett Kingston.

Agreed.
I said it a couple pages ago but I'm running with this guy as a dark horse to make a bigger impact than expected as a rookie.
I know it'll be hard for him to make the field with the crowded WR room but I can also see this guy making an impact on special teams. Apparently he looked pretty comfortable at PR, which would be awesome.
I didn't think much of him when we selected him but the more I dug into him, there is a lot to like. Especially when you project into the future. Next season could easily be Aiyuk, Pearsall, Watkins as our top 3
