Yup. The Harbaugh years and Shanahan years we were great in Special Teams once the roster was loaded. When we started to lose guys and missed on draft picks it got worse.

We hit the last draft, have to hit again to build out a good roster top to bottom, because mostly the bottom of the roster will be Special Teams.

Can we get rid of Moody now or?

He's been a good kicker for us, just struggled coming back from injury this past season.

No he hasn't

Mayo!!!! Drop and give me 100 for that comment private!

s**t, I guess I'm wrong. I haven't watched the team much since his rookie season, so I guess I shouldn't be talking. So, he's sucked? I know he struggled this past season, coming off his injury. I thought he was solid for us before then.

I never knew he had issues prior to the injury. What did he do to get hurt?

Honestly, I want better. Schneider had us middle of the pack his first year. Boyer is consistently a top 5/10 guy. That is the expectation. I want us in the upper echelon of special teams units. Hopefully Kyle has embraced this. His approach to special teams are like the coaches of old that thought passing was evil and when you throw, 2 of the outcomes are bad.

Same here, I want the team to be top 5-10 ST wise, but to be near 15 would be nice yr 1, then yr 2 be top 5-10, then yr 3 we're top 5 ST unit, but we need to get the right players in here, even if we get guys who are more ST Aces than being better on offense or defense.

Hope Boyer can convince Kyle to be more aggressive and creative with special teams. People can say what they want about "motivation" but ST players knowing they're not going to get a chance to do anything outside of tackle/block is tiring through such a long season.

You need guys motivated and aggressive and opportunity plays a part in that. Hope that happens
Get a damn PR specialist!!!! An established one, not a rookie like Pettis, who broke the all time record for return tds (Deshaun Jackson had it).

On paper, Pettis should have been that guy. I honestly have no idea who the great KR and PR now. We went from the golden era to this. The NFL has done it's part as well by eliminating surprise onside kicks.

Agreed 100% tankle104, want too be more aggressive, also maybe some trickery, like end arounds on kick off returns, something to surprise the opponent would be great.

They don't necessarily need to be more aggressive on ST as they need to stop other teams from doing great. Long kickoff and punt returns are rare, unless vs 49ers. Get that s**t locked down and get a kicker who can make FGs. Miss Nedney and Gould SO much….
You guys are expecting a lot more than me lol... I just want no turnovers and no scores off kickoffs/returns.
FWIW, I talked to Austin Mangin(49ers ST quality control coach) at the senior bowl today.
