He was 'top 5-7' in a season, but he sure isn't a top 5-7 receiver....that's my point. He was basically as much an 'All Pro' as Deebo was in 2021. These guys had one 'great' season.
BA is, or at least was, a solid receiver....a legit top 20 player at his position...but who knows what he's gonna be going forward after his knee injury. I've grown tired of the antics, and apparently, so have a lot of the 49ers brass.

Yeah, so the story is basically that the 49ers regretted giving BA the contract and wanted out of it. This is all an indictment of extreme mismanagement by the 49ers.
The team has great coaching overall which has covered up the disaster in personnel for years. Imagine if the personnel side were even just a bit better, not making huge blunders like this one or the trade up in the 2021 draft
They definitely are the kinds of mistakes that kill virtually any other team and lead to firings, yet this team has survived it all due to Kyle's coaching AND one great personnel move- pick 262 of the 2022 draft.
I'm inclined to believe we are closer to our drafting from 2017 to 2020 (all of which had hits and misses) than we are to 2021 - 2023. We definitely are going to need to hit some homeruns at some point as our stars are on the other side of 30 or just a lot of year under the belt besides Lenoir. But we have been adding more quality the past two drafts. If Pearsall can stay healthy, we may have something there. We will just need to sit back and let the roster turnover continue.

No, we don't need BA back. The only apology needed is from you for that ridiculous take.

I agree. BA quit on the team. You don't bring guys like that back into the fold.

Same. I was and still am a huge fan of Aiyuk the player. I felt in this offense he would be worth 30 million per season. The route running, the catches, the separation, the downfield blocking, and the effort made for a perfect player for Brock and Kyle's play calling. I am not sure Aiyuk is that kind of dude elsewhere. Like if he's WR#1 in an offense that relies more on force feeding but the defense is also focused on taking him away, will we get a 2023 Aiyuk? That remains to be seen, but my money is on no. I think I began to turn when he was vetoing trades that would've gave him the money he wanted. My only hope is it's not the Chiefs or a similar team that signs him. It's clear he won't play for just anyone, so we'll see. My best case scenario (but completely unrealistic) is that we can trade him, even if it's for very little just so we can get something in return and so that he doesn't end up with any team that we would not want to see him with.

There is obviously a lot of friction between him and some people in the FO. His teammates still seem to all be on good terms with him though.

So....

Brock Purdy and Mac Jones when targeting Jauan Jennings or Ricky Pearsall:
60/96 62.5% comp, 530 yards - 5.5 YPA
4 TD's 10 INT's
Brock - 24/38 273 yards 1 TD 6 INT's
Mac 36/58, 257 yards, 3 TD's 4 INT's
When targeting everyone else:
231/324, 2,600 yards
71% com
8.02 YPA…
We need Aiyuk back.
All it might take is a public apology from Jed York and Paraag. Maybe giving him his guarantees back and a slight pay bump. Get it done.

Even IF they were able to mend the situation, dude wouldn't be the same player he used to be, at least not this season.

Maybe not. I'd prefer the FO found out for sure before torching the relationship.

You're real funny thinking this could happen. The Yorks probably popped champagne after Paraag voided BA's money.

I suspect they do, which is why they're torching it now. They've been putting up with his antics for a couple years now because of his play, but he was supposed to be healthy weeks ago.
