What are the pros and cons of him coming back, from his perspective?

Pros- make "fans" and coaches happy, look good for teams next year.

Cons- offense seems to be struggling, was not targeted as much as other wrs in the league when he first got his contract. So low targets, from a struggling offense = low #s = him getting blamed or added to the blame of this weird season.

And of course takes the chance of getting hurt again on a team and fans that don't want him. (As has been showed when he first got that season ending injury, and again this past weekend based off reports)

Imo, he is going to take the season off and be fresh and ready for a new team next year.

What would you do?

This is all speculation. Hard to put myself in his shoes because we have no clue how it came to this and why it came to this. This was done months ago and it just leaked recently.

The most telling part to me is, BA isn't even fighting it with the NFLPA, which probably sounds like he's "guilty" of something. NO human being in any profession would just give up 25mil and not fight for it unless they really f**ked up somewhere.

He can't come back now. The risk is enormous. He could get hurt again and be done and be out the guaranteed money he used to have. He likely will never get that deal again. He's kidding himself if he thinks another team will do it. He's coming off injury and he has big diva attitude problems.

I can't help but think the DORKS regretted the deal though and were looking for ways to void it. Found an opportunity and jumped on it with Paraag. That whole thing is kind of playing dirty from Aiyuk's perspective and he may have a point there. But he will never get that contract again. This was the best one he will ever get and he folded with it.

Even if guilty, folks usually still fight it. And all try to come to a compromise. I'm sure the team would have LOVED to get some money/assurances back and have Aiyuk back on the field helping them.

I get the feeling it was something simple/normal that other players have done, but the FO wanted to use that as an opportunity to either get money back or leverage on a player coming back from serious injury. But Aiyuk made a decsion they didn't expect....or maybe a decsion the FO actually wanted.

"Look good for teams next year" is a big one. Making fans happy would be the least of my worries. If Shanahan offers me a chance to play this season, I would be a fool not to take it. The optics of that would be bad on top of the "admission" he did something that violated his contract last spring.

The main con would be fear of injury. Can't afford that. Got to be healthy for tryouts with interested teams.

So, I sit and hope Shanahan doesn't call.

I believe the team is going to do everything they can to get him on the field, or at least play it so it looks like that. They want to sell the image that they wanted him back if for no other reason that that plays the best in the press.

As a fan, I can forgive his negative social media stuff if he makes a legit effort to get back on the field.
They have been fined him as well and continue to. He didn't show to required activities and didn't take his rehab seriously. They continue to fine him as of now. BA got what he wanted then got hurt and changed his mind. The front office worked on emotion and let him dictate where he could or couldn't be traded then handed him the bag of money. Now making bank he has had a change of heart and doesn't want to do what is required while being paid huge money. Good Riddance.

I hear you. I understand you. I even agree with you. But your conclusions are pure speculation. Change of heart? Who said that? Doesn't want to do what is "required?" Again, sez who? If your speculation is spot on correct, which it might be, I concur: Good Riddance. BUT, we really do not know. The only people who really do know the true story are Jed York, Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch and BA himself.
I hope BA makes it back this year.

It is in his own self interest to come back and play strong this year. He has a lot to prove to everyone, and he needs to put his ego aside. The ball is in his court.

Not sure I'd describe it this way. This was the leverage Aiyuk had, unless the 49ers wanted to effectively give a star player away.

I don't know. If the fight was over whether he could rehab away from the facility or not, I can understand his side. I can see why it might be worth $25 million to a player to not let our strength and conditioning staff be in charge of their health and recovery.

According to Jay Glazer it goes all the way back to training camp and BA not doing what was required in his rehab. Several reporters and reports have said he missed mandatory meetings which most likely included mandatory time with the training staff involved in his rehab.

Uh, there is a zero % chance he's getting a FA contract anywhere near what his current contract with the niners is. Catastrophic injury and hasn't played (by next year) nearly full 2 years, did not follow rehab or attend meetings or whatever (honestly, bare minimum expectations), and no clue if he'd ever become a great player again = no one is giving him a decent deal (perhaps heavily incentive based).

But back to the beginning, I wouldn't have f**ked up bad enough to get my contract I worked so hard for voided

I would wonder what kind of exceptions, if any, have been made for other players rehabbing serious injuries. Maybe players in better standing with the team from a desirable contract perspective, lol.
