I don't see why it would benefit him to come back. Even if he played he's not going to light the world on fire being out for over a year so i don't think he'll recover much of his value at all. Even if he did do ok teams would want to rework that contract if they traded for him so why not just sit out, get released and go to whatever team he wants. He'll have to sign a 1 year prove it deal so that sucks for him.

I'm hoping we find out what he did during the summer to get his contract voided. And like the Locked on 49ers podcast said, is the NFLPA going to allow that to happen event though BA is cool with it.

I don't think the NFLPA will do anything if the player doesn't care or files a grievance. They might look over the paperwork

I remember when Seifert suddenly traded Haley to the Cowboys. There were all kinds of stories about why. Some were true and others were just rumors. Carmen Policy recently said during an interview on KNBR that the public still doesn't know about some of the things that happened. We'll see if we ever hear the real truth about this breakup.

You just might be right sir. We seem to be enamored with his talent but his behavior does not seem to fall in line with what we already have in the locker room. BA has expressed that he is all about himself and somehow we seem to not believe him. We need to stop seeing what we want to see and instead see what is right in front of us

"and somehow we seem to not believe him"

Truly excellent post.

What's crazy to me is we never saw this from BA before the contract issue. He had plenty of reason to complain about targets even in 2023. Instead he kept his mouth shut just went out there and produced in a big way, he blocked like a dog, he made big plays in crucial moments he was elite.

I have no idea what happened but it sucks. I thought we finally had our best X since TO.

I am not so sure that is true. Remember, he was in Kyle's doghouse for a while before he started to demonstrate himself as a capable receiver.
I never saw Aiyuk as being an elite receiver. He was good but not great. In 5 seasons he never had more than 78 receptions. His best season he had 1300 yards which is very good but not great. For comparison look at Njigba. He has 1300 yards and 80 catches already after 11 games. That's a true #1.

I don't know if he'll ever play for the Niners again or if his career will be the same after the injury. Whatever happens he doesn't have to worry about money the rest of his life.

That's just young player thing though. He played as a rookie cuz of injuries and covid so he kind of coasted about the extra things you have to do to be great and that's what put him in the doghouse to start his 2nd season. He talked about how going through that turned him into a better player. But still that stuff happened behind the scenes cuz we were all shocked he was soft benched early that year. Ever since then it was nothing to make him look like a diva.

JSN is currently on pace to have the most receiving yards ever in a single season. It's not realistic to say that a receiver has to match that production to be a true #1.

JSN has 2 more targets after 11 games than Aiyuk had the whole season in 2023. That's not a player difference, that's an offense difference.

Aiyuk was 100% a true #1 WR and if he gets back to full strength any team who force feeds him will see it.

If there's anything he loves, it's WR's making 30+ million a year.

That's true. I think skill level also dictates where the ball goes. Look at how many touches McCaffrey gets.

I've literally been talking about BA's disgruntled, unhappiness for the last 3 years.

I found an old gif I clipped a few years back of BA not giving a crap that Kittle scored a touchdown. He was pissed because the ball didn't go to him. There was one from this season that stuck in my mind where all his teammates are celebrating a TD together while BA walks off on his own pouting and disgruntled because he wasn't the one to score. This was the first season(2022) I realized BA had some selfish, b***hassness in him. Sadly, I used to have more of these gifs, but lost them over time.

I mean, the dude can move though. I liked the chemistry between him and Purdy.

It must have been love but it's over now..

Terrible song for a terrible outcome lol

Great player for sure.

I would say he hated being here, but hate is a strong word. Certainly, he wasn't happy being a 49er.
