Another fine addition to the team
Is Ngakoue worth considering or is his weakness against the run game a disqualifier?

I don't know what's going on behind closed doors with Ngakoue, but he must have some serious character issues. Nobody that talented ends up on 5 teams in 4 years unless they're a headache to their team.

Maybe price? Not aware he's just a specialist/3rd down guy at this point?

Almost a moth from the post and he's still available.
With the amount of resources, cost and prioritization on the DL spent over the past 7 years, should we be expecting this unit to carry us to and win us a Superbowl? Be the primary reason?

We have to factor in that we lost some of those guys as well.

IMO we have only been winning because of the D-line, take them away and we are probably just an average team. So my answer is yes the D-line should be the primary reason we win the SB.

Crazy thing is we have an offensive minded HC and revolving door at the DC position and it hasn't killed us. But if we were going on our 3rd OC in three years we would probably be doomed.

Jim Harbaugh was the same way, offensive minded HC but he had a stable DC and it was pretty much the same. Original West Coast offense organization now specializing in defense. We have had some very good defensive players and coaches over that past 15 years.
This unit won't be worse or even the same as last year, it will be better. How much better, not sure, but it will be scarier for sure.

Still gotta have a QB, but this D line has done more than its share in the last 4 years. The good news is the offense under Purdy can finally match it. In hoping the offense under Trey can do the same.

Think of the Denver game this year, Green Bay playoff game, Rams NFCCG, or even the Super Bowl with the Chiefs. You aren't stopping these offenses forever in today's NFL unless refs call holding (Bucs/Chiefs Super Bowl), so yeah, if your D gets you the ball, you gotta score.

Yup. It's always been the QB that was needed.
As of right now, Bosa is the main source of this dline power and people being scared of it.

If Bosa goes down (God forbid) this line becomes pedestrian as hell.

The DTs aren't pedestrian at all.

Fair but they're still not feared. And pass rush depth is extremely thin right now. I don't think Ferrell is a DE

If the DPOY goes down it makes the defense worse? Are you sure? I mean, maybe he helps the line, but that's a bold theory to have.
